US President Donald Trump faces a number of converging threats that could create WWIII, according to Lt Col. Robert Maginnis (Ret). Historically, he is correct to be concerned. China, Iran, Russia, even North Korea: it all comes down to a powder keg of problems.
As the Biden chief appeasement administration ignored the problems worldwide and effectively opened the doors to disaster, the same thing occurred just prior to WWII. The US attempted to stay out of the war as did Britain at first. It was the attacks by the Germans on Britain, and a few years later, the attack by Japan on Pearl Harbor that changed the trajectory. President Trump faces converging threats from adversaries that could suddenly erupt into WWIII.
The Converging threats
On Monday, US negotiators are meeting in London with Chinese officials to broker a trade deal. But trade is the least of our worries. China not only steals our technology but may be planning to deliver another major blow to the nation – even the world. With the arrests of two Chinese researchers for smuggling a pathogen into the country, the intent of the CCP is on display.

Then there’s the potential for invasion of Taiwan as well as China’s attempts to intimidate nations in the South China Sea. An invasion of Taiwan would radically upset the current supply chain for essential computer chips. Not to mention the Chinese influence being waged across the entire Asia-Pacific region, even in Latin and South America.
“Secretary Hegseth reiterated concerns about coercive activity by China against South China Sea claimant countries and emphasized the importance of Southeast Asian nations taking on its share of the burden to preserve peace and security in the region. As the United States reestablishes deterrence in the Indo-Pacific, the Secretary underscored that the United States stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its Allies and partners against all challenges to their sovereign rights.” DOD
The Ukraine-Russian War has escalated with Ukraine bombing a big percentage of Russia’s aircraft. Trump’s phone call with Putin yielded no end to the war, as the back-and-forth attacks between both countries continue.
Negotiations with Iran also yielded no results, as the Ayatollah emphatically stated they want the “right” to enrich uranium…which will not happen and cannot happen. The Mullahs in Iran regularly lead shouts of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” The evil that they espouse cannot be negotiated with – it can only be destroyed. If they do get a bomb, they will certainly use it.
From jihadis in charge of Syria, to an often-malfunctioning Turkish government, President Trump faces converging threats with major implications on all sides. All while juggling situations on the national scene.
As Lt. Col Maginnis says, “the warning lights are flashing red.”
