On Saturday, a pro-life 15-year old female, Purity Thomas, a member of the Students for Life of America’s High School Fellows, was outside an abortion clinic, Roanoke, Va. Planned Parenthood facility when she was approached by an unnamed female adult who subsequently punched her in the face.
Thomas and three members of Liberty University Students for Life were peacefully doing sidewalk counseling outside of the clinic when the attack, caught on video, occurred.
According to Students for Life of America’s High School Fellows, the students gather weekly outside of the Planned Parenthood on Saturdays, the day this location performs abortions, praying for women who enter the building and offering resources and support for other options besides abortion.

At approximately 8:30 AM, today, Saturday, December 2nd, a woman confronted our Students for Life leaders and began threatening them, saying she would beat them up and “f*ck them up.”
The woman first stole a sign that said “All people are made in the image of God” from one of our student leaders. She started walking away, but then returned, and tried to take another sign, before punching 15 year-old high school Students for Life leader, Purity Thomas, across the face, causing her to stumble and fall to the ground.
Our Students for Life leaders acted quickly and called the police.
Police reports have been filed. The assailant remains unidentified.
Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America said, “This act of violence against a group of peaceful pro-life students who were outside a Planned Parenthood offering love and support to pregnant women serves as a sad reflection on the state of debate today. It’s horrific that a minor expressing love for pregnant women was targeted for violence. But this is not an isolated incident. Across the country, we are witnessing a rise of incidents of vandalism and violence against peaceful pro-life speech. Even the American Bar Association is demonizing pro-life speech, trying to block pro-life attorneys from taking a seat on the bench. We pray that the assailant from today’s attack is brought to justice swiftly. But we also pray for the protection of those who volunteer their time to speak for the innocent, preborn infants and their mothers.”
Hawkins also spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation and said, “It’s horrific that a minor expressing love for pregnant women was targeted for violence. But this is not an isolated incident. Across the country we are witnessing a rise in the number of incidents of vandalism and violence against peaceful pro-life speech.”
The Daily Caller reported in return that indeed, California State University, Fresno students sued a university professor after he wiped away university-approved pro-life chalk messages on campus. In April, a Texas State University student punched and kicked down pro-life signs on the campus.
