As we and others reported, Rep. Katie Hill, D-Calif., announced that she would resign her House seat in the wake of her affair with a young female campaign staffer. In a video she posted to YouTube on Monday, she seemed to take a page from Hillary Clinton’s playbook and blamed everyone but herself for her problems.
“I made [the decision to resign] so that my supporters, my family, my staff, and our community will no longer be subjected to the pain inflicted by my abusive husband and the brutality of hateful political operatives,” she said. “This coordinated campaign carried out by the right-wing media and Republican opponents, enabling and perpetuating my husband’s abuse by providing him a platform is disgusting and unforgivable.”
Calling reports of her affair a “smear campaign,” she said those responsible “will be held accountable.”

The Washington Examiner added:
Hill has admitted to having an affair with the staffer during her marriage to her now-estranged husband, Kenny Heslep, who was also involved with the staffer. She did, however, deny the allegations that she also had an affair with her legislative director Graham C. Kelly.
She did not reference the staffer or the affair during the nearly four-minute-long video.

The Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe put it this way:
Katie Hill didn't just wind up in a one-off affair with someone who happened to be younger than her. She deliberately began multiple relationships with people she had the power to hire & fire, and then she violated House ethics rules while doing it. https://t.co/REAimHVfRe

Sorry, Katie, it’s not our fault you chose to engage in a sexual relationship with someone other than your husband. Nor is it the fault of anyone else on the Internet. This is on you. All of it.
