The Pentagon denied an ABC report after the news media claimed that ‘anonymous sources’ told them that an intelligence report about COVID-19 was briefed to the NSC and the White House in November. No such document exists, according to the Pentagon.
The ABC report claimed that the American government could have ramped up efforts to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus back in November. The Pentagon denied it.
As far back as late November, U.S. intelligence officials were warning that a contagion was sweeping through China’s Wuhan region, changing the patterns of life and business and posing a threat to the population, according to four sources briefed on the secret reporting.
Concerns about what is now known to be the novel coronavirus pandemic were detailed in a November intelligence report by the military’s National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI), according to two officials familiar with the document’s contents.
The report was the result of analysis of wire and computer intercepts, coupled with satellite images. It raised alarms because an out-of-control disease would pose a serious threat to U.S. forces in Asia — forces that depend on the NCMI’s work. And it paints a picture of an American government that could have ramped up mitigation and containment efforts far earlier to prepare for a crisis poised to come home.
“Analysts concluded it could be a cataclysmic event,” one of the sources said of the NCMI’s report. “It was then briefed multiple times to” the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s Joint Staff and the White House. Wednesday night, the Pentagon issued a statement denying the “product/assessment” existed.
The Pentagon scrambled to find any such document that would have been issued in the intelligence briefings. The Pentagon denied any such document. They were unable to find any. The Defense Intelligence Agency and the NCMI- National Center for Medical Intelligence could not find any such items as reported by ABC. And since the two “sources” were both anonymous, were they suffering with a bad fever from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)?
(Dr) Col. R. Shane Day at the NCMI issued a rare statement denying the media report:
According to the Washington Examiner, when Dr Mark Esper was asked by George Stephanopoulos whether he would have known if it was actually done, he stated that he would have known, and he was not aware of any such briefing.
Even if the report were true, at the time, the House of Representatives were totally focused on impeaching the President. That he was able to accomplish anything during that time is a miracle. They still want him gone. They just Thursday blocked an important bill meant to help small businesses. They don’t care about ordinary Americans, but they darned sure care about making the President the fall guy for everything.
