While it appears that persecuting Christians and rising vandalism and arson at Christian churches in the U.S. is on the rise, the rate around the world of persecuted Christians has increased dramatically in 2020, according to the watchdog organization Open Doors USA World Watch List.
Open Doors USA say levels of Christian persecution are at a record high around the world.
According to Open Doors USA, the number of Christians that were killed for their faith was 60 percent higher in 2020 than it was in 2019.
Countries are ranked by the severity of persecution of Christians, calculated by analyzing the level of violent persecution plus the pressure experienced in five spheres of life.

An average of 13 Christians killed every day. That’s nearly 400 Christians dying every month just because they follow Jesus.
For 20 years, North Korea has remained No. 1 on Open Doors’ World Watch List, the most in-depth investigative research and report on Christian persecution available. For the last six decades, North Korea has waged war on Christianity.
The Kim dynasty (Kim Il-Sung, Kim Jong-Il and now Kim Jong Un) has deported and even killed entire families who follow Jesus. Under current ruler Kim Jong Un, life has not gotten any better, some say it is worse, for Christians.
If you aren’t killed instantly, you will be taken to a labor camp as a political criminal. These inhumane prisons have horrific conditions, and few believers make it out alive. Everyone in your family will share the same punishment. Kim Jong-un is reported to have expanded the system of prison camps, in which an estimated 50,000-70,000 Christians are currently imprisoned.
The World Watch List is an annual report on the global persecution of Christians ranking the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted for their faith.
Released at the beginning of each year, the list uses data from Open Doors field workers and external experts to quantify and analyze persecution worldwide.
