Youngkin Projected To Win In Virginia, McAuliffe’s Whereabouts Reportedly Unknown
At 12:30 am Eastern Time on Wednesday, Breitbart reported that CNN, ABC News and NBC News projected that Glenn Youngkin is set to become the next governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia after a hotly-contested race that changed rapidly after Democrat Terry McAuliffe said parents should not tell schools what to teach their children. Fox News finally called the race, but did so only after others had already done so, Breitbart added ten minutes later.
According to the Virginia Department of Elections, Youngkin leads as of this writing with 50.70 percent of the vote to McAuliffe’s 48.53. According to their site, that was the result with 2723 precincts of 2855 reporting. The site also says absentee ballots will be accepted until November 5, and the results will be certified on November 15.
Breitbart also said that McAuliffe’s whereabouts are currently unknown:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Democrat Terry McAuliffe’s whereabouts are unknown, and it is unclear if he will accept defeat and concede the race now that it has been confirmed by all major networks he lost the election for governor in Virginia. He did previously say he would accept the results of the election, but he also has hired Marc Elias–a Democrat attorney known for election law battles–in recent weeks. So it remains to be seen if McAuliffe will concede or challenge the results of the election.
Republicans also appear set to win the other two statewide races:
Winsome Sears, Breitbart added, is the first black woman ever elected statewide in Virginia. And she’s a Republican.
“I’m at a loss for words at the first time in my life,” she said.
“I’m here because of you,” she added, addressing supporters at Youngkin’s headquarters. “That’s the only reason I’m here.”
Republicans are also on track to win a majority in the state’s House of Delegates.
Chesterfield reports in-person early vote tally, which was enough to call 4 House races. We project Del. Lashrecse Aird (D-Petersburg) will lose her seat, giving the House GOP +6 and a 1-seat majority in the House of Delegates. https://t.co/KoLDqo0ns0 pic.twitter.com/6m4pgVc3j2
