White House petition demands: ‘Try Linda Sarsour for Sedition’

On Saturday, a petition was placed on the White House “We the People” site calling on the administration to try Women’s March leader and Muslim activist Linda Sarsour for comments she made at a recent ISNA convention.  The petition, which can be seen here, reads:

Islamist activist Linda Sarsour calls for jihad against the Trump administration.

From day one Linda Sarsour has been at the forefront calling for violence and rage against our President. She is a Palestinian-American political activist, self-described as progressive, and former executive director of the Arab American Association of New York.

The rhetoric coming from Sarsour has reached a new level and it needs to stop and stop now.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It’s time she is tried for sedition as she has taken part in speech that poses a direct threat to our President and is intended to create violence against both Trump and his supporters.

While we do have free speech in this country, this type of speech crosses a line and needs to be addressed using the full force of the United States government.

As we reported here, Sarsour encouraged Muslims to not assimilate into the American culture, remain perpetually outraged and suggested that resistance to President Trump could be seen as an acceptable form of jihad, or holy war.

“Why sisters and brothers, why are we so unprepared. Why are we so afraid of this administration and the potential chaos that they will ensue on our community?” she asked.

“I hope, that when we stand up to those who oppress our communities, that Allah accepts from us that as a form of jihad,” she added.

Her comments angered many, with a post at The Federalist saying her call to jihad is a “call to treason.”

Luma Simms wrote:

Underlying this entire speech is a fundamental assumption: The American government is oppressive and it is our duty to resist and fight against it. Anyone inside and outside the Muslim community who assimilates, who sides with American government, is an oppressor and should be resisted. This is warfare mentality; it is agitation and incitement. But will the Muslim community heed Sarsour?

She further noted:

Pew reports that Muslim Americans consider themselves religious but not dogmatic. That’s optimistic, but again, given the global data on what Muslims think about politics and religion, and surveys suggesting a quarter of American Muslims think terrorism is a legitimate response to people who draw pictures of Mohammed, we need more and better information, and for American Muslim leaders to speak with tact, not calls to violence. That’s especially crucial given that a number of domestic terrorist attacks have been committed by Muslim U.S. citizens neighbors thought were well-assimilated. American ISIS sympathizers have been also found to listen to inciters of violence such as the well-known American Muslim cleric Ahmad Musa Jibril in Dearborn, Michigan.

Will the Muslim community turn away from their assimilation trajectory and follow Sarsour’s plan to isolate themselves, stay perpetually outraged, and organize against the U.S. government? One of Pew’s headings is “Middle Class and Mainstream.” I pray they are right. But let’s not hide our heads in the samd, (sic) either, or excuse those whose speeches would ominously alter that heading.

Writing at the Young Conservative blog, Steve Janiszak explained why he started the petition:

…One must ask themselves, would this type of violent rhetoric would have been accepted if it were geared towards former President Obama?  Hell no!  We would have seen immediate outrage from the morons sitting around glass tables with network logo coffee mugs lecturing us about hatred, violence, and racism coming from the right.  But when it’s their friends in Hollywood calling for violence towards the President it’s just free speech.  According to them it’s just art.

While it is essentially free speech to voice your discontent with the President and or any administration or political official, there is a line that should not be crossed; and that line has been crossed countless times in just a matter of months.

That is why I decided to start a petition supporting the trying of Linda Sarsour for sedition.

A video posted by Infowars gives more information:

The petition needs to get 100,000 signatures by August 7, 2017, for the administration to address it.
