US Marine Corps 247th Birthday on November 10

As the only branch of the US Military currently rated “strong” by the Heritage Foundation, the US Marine Corps says they can still kick serious butt. This year on November 10 will be their 247th Birthday – the reminder that if anyone screws with them, they’ll have h.e.l.l. to pay. Just because they’re a smaller branch, and just because they are 247 years old, never underestimate a Marine. They don’t call ’em Devil Dogs for nothin’.

In spite of the “woke” problem in the US military of late, with spatterings of it infiltrating the Marine Corps, the underlying culture of the USMC is not easily shaken by political garbage.

The most recent challenge faced by the Corps was in August of 2021, as Biden made a disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. We lost 13 service members to a bomb at Kabul Airport. Most of the victims were Marines. The anger fueled by that one failure reverberated throughout the Marine Corps as well as the other branches. They will never forget it, and neither should we.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Everyone who wears the coveted EGA (Eagle, Globe, and Anchor) earned it. It was not bestowed, it was earned. It is not taken lightly.

Marines are a storied branch of the military. From the shores of Tripoli in Libya where they fought their first battles (and won) through the hellish fighting in the trenches of Belleau Wood in WWI, to the killing fields of Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal during WWII, the Marines earned every inch of territory for which they fought. Marines battled the Communist evil in Vietnam and terrorists in Fallujah – and ultimately won, only to have politicians snatch that victory from them.

Many have been lost, many wounded along the way. They are a rare breed. It’s up to the American people to keep them that way. We need them, perhaps now more than ever.
