When we last published the information on the Hollywood movie “The Hunt,” Universal Studios was only planning to suspend advertising for the film. As of Saturday, they suspended the film itself. Sort of.

They’ve only canceled it “temporarily.” So at some point in the future, that trash movie may make a reappearance. Probably sometime near elections?

Fox reported“Universal Pictures has canceled the September 27 release of the controversial movie”The Hunt,” in the wake of significant backlash over the film that depicts privileged vacationers hunting “deplorables” for sport.

NBC’s Universal Pictures, which shares parent company Comcast with NBC News and MSNBC, told Fox News on Wednesday that the movie’s marketing campaign would be “temporarily paused” on the heels of the tragic mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, and GilroyCalifornia…

… But in a statement released to Fox News on Saturday, a Universal Pictures spokesperson said: “While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film.

“We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film.”

They called it “satire”, but it crossed a line that even comedians and satirical writers didn’t like. It will never be the right time to release it…if the writers had kept politics out of the script, they might have gotten away with it. The 70’s movie “Death Race 2000” was about cars running over humans for points – no politics, just repugnant gore. But “The Hunt” was too openly against Conservatives. They even used the term “deplorables” in it. It was designed to encourage the crazies among us to kill, and the writers knew it.

Universal Studios came to their senses, at least for the moment. But mark my words, they’ll put it out again.
