While speaking at at a pro-Palestine protest, Russell Rickford, an associate professor of history at Cornell University, said he was excited and “exhilarated” by news of the Hamas terror attack against Israel that left over 1,400 dead, including babies, who were reportedly beheaded by the terrorists.
“It was exhilarating. It was exhilarating, it was energizing. And if they weren’t exhilarated by this challenge to the monopoly of violence, the shifting of the violence of power, then they would not be human. I was exhilarated,” he said.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The response on social media was predictable:
@Cornell you should reduce your tuition to 0 if these are the kind of arguments your professors are making.
No fact checking,
no history or context.
Just inciting people using false accusations.
Hear me out future students, your local community college will give you a much…— Orit Buzin (@oritb) October 16, 2023
Indeed.
Can we get a gofundme going to get him a one way ticket to Gaza? He can yell and scream there.

Good people do not find rape and murder “exhilarating” even if it “challenges power.” We have a many examples of social justice leaders who challenged power without raping or murdering anyone.

Or beheading babies…
Yes, you heard correctly. The morally depraved Russell Rickford is "exhilirated" and "energized" by the targeted murder of young children solely on account of their race. https://t.co/4pktKjovjr

And THIS excited Rickford? Color me jaded, but that is the very definition of SICK.
This is disgusting.

This would have to improve to be disgusting.
The New York Post added:
The crowd then chanted, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” a common rallying call for pro-Palestinian advocates to eradicate Israel and establish their own state. The phrase is deemed antisemeitc by the American Jewish Committee.
Rickford did not respond to an interview request from The Post and Cornell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
This, by the way, is what’s “educating” our children at so-called “institutes” of “higher learning.”
These people are truly sick and disgusting.
