Mariposa, CA – Edward Fredrick Wackerman, 71, was arrested on June 16 for suspicion of arson regarding the Oak Fire in July of 2022 that ravaged 19,000 acres and cost $8.3 Million in property losses near Yosemite National Park. That’s not counting the cost of fighting the fire, which CalFire reported as $100 Million. Democrats insisted the fires were from “climate change.” They were wrong.
Wackerman was charged with four serious felonies (Sierra Sun Times):
Ed Wackerman is facing several felony charges, including aggravated arson. These charges carry serious legal consequences and the District Attorney is committed to ensuring a fair trial and upholding justice. Currently, the investigation is under review by our office. Three firefighters were injured in the blaze, 127 homes and 66 outbuildings were destroyed, as well as nearly 30 square miles of land. The inferno was considered the worst fire in Mariposa history, causing 6,000 residents to be evacuated.
Wackerman is reportedly a volunteer firefighter.

Democrats harped on climate change as the cause of the devastation, demanding immediate action.

Even Al Gore got in on the “climate change” drumbeat over the fire, claiming that the heat and fires would get worse if we didn’t stop “using the atmosphere as an open sewer.” Maybe he should stop using that private jet.
Another mark against the Democrat lies came when The Mill Fire in Weed, California last year was reportedly caused by operations at a local wood products plant. Once again, not climate change. That fire was the cause of two deaths and the loss of 150 buildings.
Democrats see what they want to see, but that’s not necessarily the truth. And it’s pretty inconvenient.
