Students at Western Kentucky Univ. want free tuition for black students as reparations for slavery

It’s obvious students at Western Kentucky University (WKU) don’t get taught much in the way of history.  Citing Campus Reform, the Daily Caller reported Thursday that students at the college think blacks should have free tuition as reparations for slavery and other perceived wrongs.

According to the Daily Caller:

In a vote on Tuesday, the Western Kentucky University student government passed a resolution, 19-10, that advocates the recognition of slavery as a “debt that will never be paid” and offer free tuition to black students as compensation.

The resolution also seeks the creation of a special task force to investigate the possibility of amending the admissions system so that it is weighted geographically — which, theoretically, would make acceptance at WKU easier for black students.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Andre Ambam, who fought for the resolution, told the WKU Herald that racial inequality is the basis of economic inequality — the chief reason for blacks not attending college.

“If you really care about diversity, if you really care about inclusion, if you really care about making this campus safe and accessible to everybody, having the student government’s support of reparation[s] for black students would be amazing,” Ambam told the Herald.

“This is something that I think is more importantly about sending a clear message than it is about actually trying to strive for the institution to actually give out free tuition to everybody,” added Brian Anderson, the resolution’s co-author.

Campus Reform added:

Some senators expressed concerns about the financial burden on students who would have to cover the free tuition, either in the form of increased fees or higher taxes, but were unable to disabuse their colleagues of the notion that historical injustice must be rectified by contemporary injustice.

“It will disadvantage other people from getting the same education,” Senator William Hurst said. “I am not discounting that there is an obvious disadvantage to African-American students, but this resolution would discriminate against other populations.”

So someone at the college has a functioning brain cell… The report continued:

Senator Lily Nellans, however, countered that the resolution is not unfair because it makes up for the advantages that white people have historically enjoyed in American society.

“A lot of times equality can feel like oppression for those who are losing their advantage, but that’s not a reason we shouldn’t fight for equality,” Nellans said.

How about this: Everyone who currently owns slaves in the U.S. pay reparations to those they owned.

What’s scary is that this is the type of nonsense being perpetrated at so-called “institutions” of alleged “higher learning.”
