Students at Pricey University Demand Everyone get A’s

Students at a pricey university called The New School in New York City decided to occupy the campus and make demands. One of those demands is that everyone in the school get A’s.  It’s a product of society promising a trophy to everyone, regardless of merit.

In addition to demanding A’s, they want the removal of the school’s president, provost, and vice president. They demand removal of the Board of Trustees. They demand a tuition freeze from 2023 to 2028. Oh, and they are also demanding for the university president’s house “be treated as a communal property.”

The original reason for The New School occupation, which began on December 8, was to support striking faculty members who were lobbying for higher wages and better health care.

Though the faculty strike has since been resolved, a letter of demands now calls for A grades for all students. It says in part: “We demand that every student receives a final course grade of A as well as the removal of I/Z grades for the Fall 2022 semester.” The letter insisted, “Attendance shall have no bearing on course grade.” (According to the New School’s website, an “I” grade is a “temporary incomplete” and a “z” grade is an “unofficial withdrawal.”)

The letter also states that occupying students demand a refund “for the loss of instructional time due to the strike” and that “this tuition refund will be proportional to the duration of the semester during which the strike is in effect.”  Legal Insurrection

They can demand all you want, but they’re idiots. The New School in NYC has been around for about 12 years. Sounds like someone failed to actually educate their students. In response to the demands, the school released a statement that they are listening to the student’s demands.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The consequences of giving young folks everything they want is evident in the mentality that demands irrational things. Why are they irrational? Because they reflect a total lack of work ethic. Without working to build their future, they are expecting others to do everything for them. They believe that because they “deserve” such things. It’s entitlement to the max. And it is completely unrealistic. A pricey university should at least give degrees that mean something.

It’s also a huge slap in the face to those who worked their rear ends off in college to get through it with decent grades. Staying up late to study or goofing off at the last minute and paying for it with a hangover during an important test…all of those things are part of life and have important lessons. The “social justice warriors” will never know the feeling of accomplishment because they will never accomplish anything positive.
