The Second Amendment Foundation has launched a television ad campaign promoting its fledgling “Second Amendment First Responder” project, promoting gun rights as the fall campaign season shifts into high gear, according to a news release.

SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb said advertisements will appear on Fox News, DISH TV, One America News and Newsmax.

“Our message is simple and direct. Gun rights need to be protected now more than ever,” he observed, “as America is under attack by anarchists who have been undermining public safety by demanding we defund police agencies, and essentially allow a breakdown of law and order.”

Timing appears to be everything, as it appears on the heels of the Republican National Convention, during which President Donald Trump reminded a White House law audience twice that a Democrat victory in November could seriously jeopardize the Second Amendment.

Making matters even more interesting, a new Rasmussen poll says 63 percent of likely voters think the country is more divided than it was four years ago, although that is actually an improvement over 2017, when Barack Obama left office. At that time, Rasmussen recalled, a whopping 72 percent of likely voters thought the nation was more divided.

Rasmussen said a plurality (46%) thinks America n will become more divided if Democrat Joe Biden wins the election in November. That’s up from 38 percent last fall. Thirty-five percent think the country will be less divided if Trump is defeated Nov. 3.

In such an environment, protecting every tenet of the Bill of Rights becomes paramount, and according to Gottlieb, the Second Amendment protects all the rest.

“In order to defend our rights,” he emphasized, “we’ve got to protect the one right that makes it possible. Second Amendment First Responders is the project that puts it all together, and our television advertising campaign brings the message to Americans across the country.”

It’s pretty easy to participate, he explained to Conservative Firing Line. Text “Protect 2A” to 474747 and you will be directed to the 2A First Responder program. A message comes back immediately from SAF explaining how activists are the front line when it comes to defending the right to keep and bear arms. They increase their activism by becoming “force multipliers” who then recruit additional volunteers to build their own local networks.

This is not a political advertising effort. No candidates are suggested or endorsed.

“This isn’t about electing, it’s about protecting,” Gottlieb said. “Mounting this television advertising campaign is the most effective way to reach millions of citizens quickly, especially the five million citizens who bought guns for the first time this year.”

He called the program “grassroots activism at its most basic, boots-on-the-ground level.”
