A Ford Expedition laden with 12 gas cans rammed into a Mitsubishi Outlander in Rochester, N.Y. as people were leaving a rock concert at Kodak Center. The incident occurred at around 12:50 a.m. on January 1 as the Ford exploded in flames, killing the driver, and two occupants of the other vehicle. At least 5 others were injured, one critically. The suspect was identified as Michael Avery,35.
According to multiple outlets, the driver of the Ford intentionally sped up and drove into the pedestrian crossing. The other driver was an Uber driver and was blindsided by the Ford as he came out of the parking lot near the Kodak Center in Rochester.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force couldn’t find any nexus to terrorists, and believe the driver committed suicide. According to Avery’s family, he suffered from “undiagnosed mental issues.” Police have not yet located any journals or suicide notes.
According to Chris Eberhart at Fox, Avery checked into the Woodspring Suites in Greece, NY on December 27. On December 29, he rented a Ford Expedition at the Rochester airport. On December 30, he purchased numerous gas cans full of gas at various locations. Then on January 1, he sped up and intentionally rammed into the other vehicle near the pedestrian crossing. The injured were leaving a rock concert by the Jam Band Moe.
