Pelosi plan? Speaker tells press about 25th Amendment

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, has reportedly hinted about using the 25th Amendment to sideline President Donald Trump. (Wiki)

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi—third in line for the presidency under the U.S. Constitution, should both the president and vice president be unable to perform duties of the office—reportedly told the press Thursday “she intends to discuss a constitutional measure to remove President Trump from office” after questions were raised about his health following the coronavirus scare, Fox News is reporting.

The Hill is likewise reporting that Pelosi indicated “Democrats will hold an event on Friday to discuss the 25th Amendment amid concerns over President Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis.” The report said Pelosi “declined to provide an explicit answer” to requests for clarification of her remarks.

As is typical of the president, the New York Post said he “returned fire” quickly, suggested in a tweet, “Crazy Nancy is the one who should be under observation. They don’t call her Crazy for nothing!”

Democrats have been trying to remove Trump from office since the moment he was sworn in.

Earlier this week, the president declassified all documents related to the controversial “Russia probe,” which he labeled as a hoax. Published reports suggest the documents show Hillary Rodham Clinton “personally approving a plan to tie the president to Russia hacking Democrats during the 2016 election.”

Then House Democrats impeached Trump, but the Senate would not convict. Many saw that as payback for the impeachment of President Bill Clinton more than 20 years ago, but he was not convicted by the Senate, either.

This new development comes less than a month before the national election.

However, according to Politico, the declassified Russian intelligence “was previously rejected by Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee as having no factual basis, according to two sources familiar with the matter.”

According to Fox News, Pelosi “had earlier questioned the status of Trump’s health, as well as exactly how long he has had COVID-19.”

“I think that the public needs to know the health condition of the President,” Pelosi is quoted as stating. “There’s one question that he refused to answer … when was his last negative test?”

The president has told reporters he feels “great.” He was hospitalized over the weekend after having been diagnosed with COVID-19 last Friday. At Walter Reed Hospital, the president was given what has been described as “a cocktail” of various drugs that apparently knocked down the virus quickly.
