A delegation of Democrats descended on NYC to see the NYC migrant crisis up close and personal on Friday. As they visited the Roosevelt Hotel (once a high-end facility now used as a migrant relief/processing center) an angry crowd drowned out AOC and Jerry Nadler as they held a press conference. The situation arose as Mayor Eric Adams complained that the migrants will “destroy NYC” – their own fault for declaring themselves a “sanctuary city.”
Migrants have had to sleep on the sidewalks, and some have appropriated mopeds in order to make an income with deliveries. The situation has become dire in many places, with dangers to local residents.
“Close the border, close the border. Respect the constitution AOC. I am your constituent,” one protester shouted. Others shouted, “Send them back!” Signs that stated “Americans first: vetted & legal migrants only” were prevalent among the protesters.

Part of the anger reportedly stems from migrants being allowed to “jump the line” for preference in jobs. Legal immigrants are being overlooked in favor of the migrants, according to the New York Post. The other issue is the horrendous cost of dealing with the migrants. One protester was physically shoved back behind a barricade as he unloaded rage at both the Dems and police. Others demanded the situation stop before permanent damage is done (probably too late already).

The fact is, NYPD’s budget was cut significantly before, and they are operating with less police officers. On top of that scenario, there is the high cost of housing in a city already crowded with people. NYC has displaced numerous people to cope with the migrant crisis. But the illegals are being given many free things residents do not receive – school, housing, food, etc. Locals have to be vaccinated before entering schools, but migrants do not, which nearly guarantees a looming crisis of another type. NYC has rapidly been running out of housing, as 110,000 migrants were dropped in NYC last year.
They aren’t all coming from Texas Governor Abbot, either. The Biden administration is dropping off illegal immigrants in cities all across the nation, which has caused migrant shelters to overflow.

It’s only good because now blue cities are beginning to take notice after branding themselves as “sanctuary cities.” Apparently, they were blind to the Biden administration’s border stupidity when they did it. OR they were attempting to exact revenge on politicians they didn’t like. In any case, illegals are always welcome until they’re not.
