North Idaho PAC Accused Of Lying, Misrepresenting Itself, Candidates, As ‘Conservative’

How far are some willing to go in order to win an election?  Consider this.  A political action committee, or PAC, in North Idaho has been accused of lying to voters, misrepresenting themselves and the candidates they are pushing as “conservatives.”

According to the Idaho Tribune, a group consisting of liberals are trying to fool voters in North Idaho, an area that typically votes to the right of center.  The goal is to elect a slate of candidates vying for the North Idaho College (NIC) Board of Trustees:

The liberal group in North Idaho known as “Friends of NIC” have begun publishing election material designed to mimic the appearance of the official Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) in Kootenai County.

Many believe the group, if successful in electing their candidates for North Idaho College, will help turn Coeur d’Alene into a liberal city, using the college to push progressive culture issues to the forefront of North Idaho politics.

The KCRCC — the official Republican Central Committee in Kootenai County — has published their recommended voter guide for dozens of elections, maintaining a constant format and color school to develop a familiarity with the public, so they recognize what they are looking at.

Here’s just a sample of the mailers the organization has sent, as posted by a group called “NIC Truth.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

According to NIC Truth, “Friends of NIC” was formed in July of this year by Christa Hazel, a former member of the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee who was lauded by the Kootenai Democrat Party for her support of another group called “Idaho Women for Biden.”

Hazel

The group also posted this small collection of Hazel’s social media posts:

Hazel

“Why is Christa Hazel pretending to be a conservative?” the group asked.  That’s a very good question, so we reached out to her on Twitter and gave her an opportunity to respond to the allegations.

Your information is inaccurate. Thanks for the opportunity to clarify,” she said in a snarky response.

Of course, she clarified nothing, which prompted a follow-up.  We would have been more than happy to publish whatever explanation she wanted to provide, but she responded by immediately blocking our Twitter account.

Of course, her disrespectful “middle finger” response spoke volumes to us.  She wants our support and our votes, but she doesn’t believe she owes the voters any transparency or accountability.  Sorry, Christa, that’s not how this works.

As a side note, it seems this isn’t the first time Hazel has caused issues.  In August 2017, The Spokesman-Review’s Dave Oliveria said Hazel was excoriated by an “American Redoubter” as a “liar” and an “undocumented Democrat.”  The post Oliviera referenced observed:

Christa Hazel campaigned against a solid conservative for School Board and won.  She and liberal PAC Balanced North Idaho supported Tom Hearn for School Board, a very liberal democrat over a committed conservative in 2013 and won.  Christa Hazel also supported Walt Minnick, a former Republican who moved to the Democrat Party over a staunch Christian conservative Bill Sali for federal Congress with her Republican Friends of Walt, and won.  How many conservatives has Christa Hazel helped destroy with her friends in the legacy media and Democratic Party?

Sound familiar?

NIC Truth notes on its site:

No delicate way to say it. Sure, Friends of NIC keep saying they are conservative over and over but money never lies….and if the Democrats are significantly funding Friends of NIC then it is easy to say they are NOT conservative.

As the saying goes, “follow the money.”  One of those who contributed to “Friends of NIC” is former Idaho state Senator Mary Lou Reed, a very well-known liberal Democrat with ties to the Biden Administration.  It is absolutely inconceivable to me that Reed would support a conservative for any position whatsoever.

Reed NIC

We reached out to NIC Truth, but have not heard back from the group.  We also reached out to current NIC Trustee Todd Banducci, who is not on November’s ballot.

“They’re relying on lies and deception to win, using the same old tactics being used nationally,” Banducci told the Conservative Firing Line in an exclusive interview.  He also accused the group of using tactics from the “Saul Alinsky” playbook in a deliberate ploy to “confuse voters.”

Banducci also said detractors have viciously attacked him personally, called him a “Marxist,” boycotted his business and even vandalized his business sign with manure.  Police were called after that incident, he added, but nothing was done.  But he’s not concerned, no matter who wins the election.

“If it doesn’t go my way, I’ll be okay,” he said.  But, he added, “heads will pop if they lose.”

We’re pretty sure of that…

“All the money in the world can’t hide the truth that Friends of NIC is a group of fake conservatives supporting fake conservative candidates,” NIC Truth said on their Facebook page.  “Vote for Waggoner, Hartman and Sheridan for NIC Trustees.”

The moral of this sad little story is this — be an informed voter.  Don’t just accept what comes in the mail as gospel.  Check it out for yourself.  Make the calls, and do your own research.  And remember, anyone who seeks to avoid transparency or accountability doesn’t deserve your vote.
