No, I Won’t be “Celebrating” Transgender Visibility Day
This Sunday is “Transgender Visibility Day.” I won’t be celebrating. This Sunday is Resurrection Sunday- one of the single most important holidays on the calendar. Why? Because this weekend, from Good Friday to Saturday to Sunday, a pathway to freedom was opened by the Sacrifice of Jesus. It’s a pathway that everyone should take – if they do not, they are destined to being trapped in the sins of the world.
Remember the story of creation in Genesis? How God rested on the 7th day before the beginning of a new world called earth? The sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus was the same: after tribulation and trouble, Jesus was laid in the grave on the 7th day. He rose again to a new world where forgiveness and love are available to all who choose to receive Him. He literally is the 2nd Adam – the one Who redeemed mankind from itself.
“God finished his work and then he rested on the seventh day. Jesus, while on the cross cried, “It is finished!” And then in death, he rested on the seventh day, a day which when the sun went down and came up again, nothing else would ever be the same. Jesus’s work was finished, the work of the cross that put him to death would put an end to our works that lead to death. The barrier to entering God’s rest is unbelief, according to the author of Hebrews. Only we who have believed enter that rest (Hebrews 4:3).” Jared Bridges at The Washington Stand
Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.” 1 Corinthians 15:45
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Transgender Visibility Day will never be equal to His Sacrifice or resurrection. All of the shrieking, demanding, and other radical actions will never compare to the love Jesus extends to all people.
Transgenders strive to be seen, to be valued, yet the only place where they will be truly loved is in Christ. And that’s why this Sunday I will only celebrate Resurrection Day.
