It’s going to be difficult to explain to her 3rd through 5th grade students that their teacher is now a registered sex offender.
Leah Queen, 44, an award-winning teacher, changed her plea from “not guilty” to “guilty” last week for a sexual assault on a minor that occurred in 2010 when she was a physical education teacher at Gentry Intermediate School near Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The assault occurred 13 years ago when the student was 17 and Queen was 31, but Arkansas has no statute of limitations on sexual assault involving a minor.
According to an affidavit, Queen befriended the victim after a basketball game and socialized outside of school hours.

Although the age of consent in Arkansas is 16, teachers are only allowed to have sexual relationships with students once they are 18-years-old…
…The affidavit stated how Queen and the victim went on to ‘engage in deviant sexual activity’ before the minor’s senior year of high school.
She had been on a camping trip when she kissed the victim. A journal from the student also detailed various other instances of intimacy between the pair.
Queen had sex with the student in her office, her office bathroom at the school and even at home, according to an affidavit.
Parents of the student, Queen’s ex-husband and another former school teacher all corroborated several details of the student’s accusations.

Queen’s ex-husband said that the had seen the victim sharing a bed with his ex-wife on several occasions.
The disgraced PE teacher had been working for the Gentry School District for more than 20 years. During that time, she had undergone a drastic physical transformation where she dropped almost half of her body weight — from 300lbs to 165lbs in 11 years.

For her crime, Queen sentenced to 58 days in Benton County Jail and was placed on six years of state-supervised probation by Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren. The judge also ordered that she have no contact with the victim.
How many times have you seen stories just like this? Then why isn’t this abuse of students by public teachers considered a “systemic” problem? Because it certainly appears as though it is.
A Fox News analysis from January revealed that nearly 350 K-12 public school teachers were arrested on child sex-related crimes in the U.S., 75% of those alleged crimes involved students.
“This isn’t surprising or new though it is hard to accept,” Erika Sanzi, director of outreach at Parents Defending Education, told Fox News Digital. “Since the dawn of time, sexual predators have found a way to embed themselves in child rich environments and schools are no exception. Smart phones and encrypted apps have increased access to young children and adolescents and while it is a tiny fraction of educators who engage in this predatory behavior, we must do a much better job protecting children while also respecting due process. It’s an icky topic but hiding from it can’t be an option.”
Corey DeAngelis, senior fellow at the American Federation for Children, said reporting on the subject is incomplete, and that the Department of Education should release a new report detailing the prevalence of child sex abuse in schools.
“These findings are likely lower bound estimates of the actual amount of sexual abuse occurring in public schools because the analysis only includes publicized arrests and cannot count undetected or unreported forms of abuse,” DeAngelis told Fox News Digital. “In fact, a 2004 report from the U.S. Department of Education estimated that around one in ten public school students will experience educator sexual misconduct by the time they graduate from high school. The Department of Education should update the report as soon as possible to shine a light on this abuse.”
The Education Department report, released nearly 20 years ago, claimed that nearly 9.6% of students are targets of educator sexual misconduct sometime during their school career.

Just a thought, but perhaps the modern sex ed curriculum that based largely on the work of pedophiles and degenerate perverts isn’t what we should be encouraging predators to teach our kids.
