In 1907, Scouting founder Robert Baden-Powell devised the now familiar motto for the Boy Scouts: “Be prepared.” He was once asked what it was scouts should be prepared for.
“Why, for any old thing,” he said. In his 1908 book, Scouting for Boys, he explained that to “Be Prepared” means “you are always in a state of readiness in mind and body to do your duty.”
Things have changed considerably in the last 112 years, but the idea of being prepared for any eventuality is still a sound one. Especially these days.
Consider: For the last few years, leftists have deliberately pushed for a second bloody civil war in America. The mainstream media has embarked on a propaganda campaign to defame anyone whose views fall to the right of Josef Stalin, calling Trump supporters stupid, uneducated hicks, or worse — Nazis.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Democrat politicians have deliberately poked Americans in the eye and are pushing for radical policies that are more in line with Karl Marx than Thomas Jefferson.
The education establishment has deliberately dumbed American students down to the point that they can’t tell the difference between Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan. These same students are also completely ignorant of American history, and a number of them can’t even tell you who the United States won its independence from.
Ignorant leftists are now working to erase American history, tearing down statues of figures like Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant. Many others are burning cities down, looting, rioting and even murdering people because they think their targets are racists.
Not that long ago, a young white mother of a three-year-old child was gunned down allegedly for saying that all lives matter. A retired law enforcement officer was murdered because his killer thought that anyone who rides a Harley motorcycle is a racist.
Terrorists with the Marxist Black Lives Matter tore down a monument to fallen 9/11 first responders.
These aren’t “confederate” soldiers that are being erased from history. Let’s call it what it is: Cultural genocide, aided and abetted by a new Axis of Evil — The Democrats, their allies in Hollywood and the media, and their mobs in BLM and Antifa.
What do they want? That’s simple. They want the complete destruction of the United States as a free and sovereign republic, and they want freedom-loving, patriotic Americans to either submit or die.

And let’s not forget the companies who reportedly support the antics of BLM and Antifa.
While we’re at it, let’s consider the “Cancel Culture,” the self-appointed Thought Police who seek to destroy anyone who dares utter a conservative word or disagree with the leftist dogma of the day. Of course, what I call the Silicon Valley Axis of Evil is part of that “culture,” banning and de-platforming anyone who expresses a conservative opinion.
Add to all this talk of FEMA camps and guillotines allegedly intended to erase conservative-minded Americans, Christians and white people from the population, as if patriots would actually line up to be slaughtered like sheep. Something tells me that simply won’t happen.
Then there’s the coronavirus pandemic. For much of the year, we’ve seen Democrat governors and mayors act like tyrants, stripping Americans of their Constitutional rights and freedoms while deliberately destroying the economy.
And let’s not kid ourselves — it won’t matter who wins in November. If Trump wins, the left will go on a bloody rampage, burning, looting, rioting and perhaps even killing people they perceive as Trump supporters.
If Biden wins, the mob will feel empowered, and will rampage across the country, believing they now have carte blanche to do so. After all, Democrats seem to have a soft spot for the anarchists, and they’re the ones pushing to defund police, leaving regular Americans to fend for themselves.
How much of the stupid and the crazy Americans will tolerate is unknown, but it’s fairly certain that armed conflict is inevitable if things continue as they are. No one in their right mind wants it, but it’s coming. Of course, our hope and prayer is that cooler heads will prevail and the country will pull back from the abyss.
Should Americans be prepared for armed conflict? Yes, they should. But it takes much more than simply purchasing firearms and boxes of ammunition. Much more. Consider, for example, the St. Louis attorney who defended his home from the mob with a firearm.
Kudos to him for exercising his Second Amendment right, but it’s clear from the videos that emerged that neither he nor his wife had any training in the safe use of those firearms. And to be honest, I’m not 100 percent certain that an AR-15 and a semi-automatic pistol were the best choices for them.
Preparation takes more than just buying a gun. If one does decide to purchase a firearm, he or she should at least consult with a firearms expert to determine the best choice. Once the purchase is made, the buyer should attend classes to learn how to use the weapon safely.
But there’s more — preparing for conflict also means being ready to sustain one’s home and family for a period of time. That means stocking up on food, water and all the other necessities. It also means making sure one is prepared to deal with fires and possible medical emergencies. First aid training is essential. If riots break out as they did in many cities across the country, there’s no telling how long it will be before one can even make it to the store or the hospital.
Besides the physical preparation, there’s something else to consider. Being prepared, as Baden-Powell observed, also means being ready mentally. That’s the hardest part. Of course, no one really knows how they’ll react when a rampaging armed mob threatens hearth and home. But it’s something to consider.
There’s something else to think about. It’s true that there’s safety in numbers. In the old days, families in remote areas would sometimes “fort up” to help defend each other in the face of an impending attack. We have something similar to that today, called “neighborhood watch.”
Get to know your neighbors. Discuss the situation with them. Set aside whatever political differences you may have and work together for the good of the neighborhood. The mob has shown it doesn’t care who they attack — even people who might consider themselves “liberal” aren’t safe from them, and the mob has shown it has no problem killing anyone — even children.
Radicals won’t have a problem attacking a single family home, but they may think twice about attacking a close-knit neighborhood or community prepared to defend their families with deadly force if absolutely necessary.
Yes, America IS on the brink of a second, bloody civil war, brought about by radical leftists in government, the media, Hollywood and the mob on the street. Maybe we’ll have police and military protection when it happens. But maybe not. It’s always best to be ready for anything. The time to get ready is now, not when the mob is burning down the house.
