Harvey Weinstein – Guilty of Rape and Criminal Sex Act

A Manhattan jury took 26 hours over five days of deliberations to convict former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of 3rd degree rape and criminal sex act. A friend of numerous Hollywood personalities, the sleazy former Hollywood producer was found guilty of only 2 of the 5 charges against him. Even so, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

The judge ordered him to jail immediately after the trial. Sentencing is to occur on March 11.

For years, rumors circulated in Hollywood of the man who allegedly violated young actresses at will. Numerous celebrities such as Oprah, and politicians like Hillary, allegedly knew about his behavior all along, but ignored it. As soon as the allegations surfaced in 2017, they feigned shock. He was a “friend” to celebrities, as aspiring actresses were violated.

According to news reports, Harvey Weinstein used intimidation to threaten women with having their careers crushed if they spoke out. Some he allegedly paid off, some had to sign nondisclosure agreements. He also hired “Black Cube,” a spy agency staffed by former Mossad agents, in an effort to discourage journalists from exposing his secrets.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

During the trial, some women testified against him, others testified that those women seemed ‘just fine’ after their sexual encounters. Fox wrote:

Lauren Marie Young, a model from suburban Philadelphia, testified that Weinstein invited her to his Beverly Hills hotel room, lured her to the bathroom, stripped off his clothes, pulled down her dress and groped her breast. Her allegation is part of a criminal case that was filed against Weinstein in California just as this trial was getting underway.

Her testimony bookended that of the first accuser to testify, actress Annabella Sciorra, who alleges Weinstein barged into her apartment in the mid-1990s, threw her on a bed and raped her as she tried to fight him off by kicking and punching him.

Eight women testified in the trial, but the jury couldn’t decide on three of the five counts, one being the most serious and could have landed him in prison for life: sexual predator. But Prosecutors were happy with the two counts.

“These are eight women who pulled our justice system into the 21st century by declaring that rape is rape and sexual assault is sexual assault no matter what. Rape is rape whether it’s committed by a stranger in a dark alley or by an intimate partner [or] in a working relationship.” Cy Vance, Manhattan District Attorney via Fox.

Weinstein’s fortune failed when the allegations came to light. Will he end up like Epstein? Only time will tell.
