GOP Rep says he’ll impeach if Obama issues executive orders on guns.

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) said Monday that he’ll file articles of impeachment if Obama decides to act like a dictator and sign executive orders on gun control.

According to VP Joe Biden, the White House already has 19 orders waiting for a signature, but have not said what, exactly, those orders would do.

From Examiner:

Stockman said such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and would “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.”

“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” he said in a statement.

Politico reported Monday that according to Joe Biden, the White House has 19 executive orders ready for Obama to act unilaterally on gun control.

“The executive actions could include giving the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention authority to conduct national research on guns, more aggressive enforcement of existing gun laws and pushing for wider sharing of existing gun databases among federal and state agencies, members of Congress in the meeting said,” Politico added.

Stockman called Obama’s executive orders an assault on the Constitution and the American people.

“If the president is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist,” he said.

Even if the president is impeached, however, the Senate will never convict.
