FBI Officials Leaving- Coincidence or Rats Deserting a Sinking Ship?
FBI officials keep leaving. It appears as though recent revelations that the FBI used an unverified document in obtaining a FISA surveillance warrant to spy on Donald Trump and his campaign team may be causing more people to exit the law enforcement agency and DOJ. That and the rampant anti-Trump sentiment in the agency. Are these all coincidence? Are they sick of politics? Or are they simply rats deserting a sinking ship?
In addition to the demise of Andrew McCabe in a sudden “retirement” earlier than expected, and the “reassignment” of FBI General Counsel James Baker and Peter Strzok head of the FBI’s Counterterrorism unit (one of the texters), there have been other – perhaps lesser known, but just as important folks leaving.
James Rybicki was Comey’s Chief of Staff. Current Director Christopher Wray announced that Rybicki was leaving for the private sector on January 23, 2018. He came under scrutiny because of his closeness with James Comey.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Wray had a nice comment about Rybicki: “Jim Rybicki notified me last month that he will be leaving the FBI to accept an opportunity in the corporate sector. While this is an exciting move for the whole Rybicki family, Jim will be dearly missed by the FBI family – and by me personally.” Wray called him “level-headed” and someone with “earnest professionalism.” He will be replaced by attorney Zachary Harmon, with whom Wray has worked before. Coincidence?
Josh Campbell, former supervisory special agent with the F.B.I. who served as a counterterrorism investigator and special assistant to James Comey, left the bureau on February 1 to become a CNN employee who will “defend the FBI as a law enforcement analyst.”
EXCLUSIVE: I obtained a copy of former @Comey assistant @joshscampbell‘s goodbye flyer at the FBI. It invites attendee’s to “celebrate his new endeavor defending the bureau as an LE analyst at @CNN” https://t.co/JgjzVSJd1m pic.twitter.com/BXStmSgzcq

Does that bother anybody but me? Defending the FBI at a time when it obviously needs to undergo a big shakeup is hypocritical at best. Coincidence?
Michael Kortan “stepped down”-“retired”-“ran like a rat from a sinking ship” on February 8. He was the head of the FBI’s public information office. It was his job to “sell” the investigation into Clinton’s emails as legitimate (or any other investigation). He controlled the release of information to the press. He was mentioned along with several others who have left in the now infamous texts between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
Kortan was a “confidant” of former Director James Comey, and had served in the Bureau for 33 years. Coincidence?
David Laufman, the chief of the counterintelligence section at the Justice Department’s National Security Division, left on February 7.
David Laufman, chief of the counterintelligence section at the Justice Department’s National Security Division, has stepped down, per @nakashimae. He played a leading role in the Clinton email server and Russian hacking investigations. https://t.co/nOthRGqnnC

Laufman helped to “oversee” the investigations into both Clinton and the Russian “collusion” issue. Oversee is not the term I’d use – overlook” is a better one. Coincidence?
Rachel Brand, a top ranking official at the Justice Department, suddenly resigned on February 9 to take an executive “dream job” position at…wait for it…Walmart. She was next in line to oversee the Mueller investigation after Rod Rosenstein. She also was overseeing the DOJ’s antitrust, civil and civil rights divisons, and the National Security Agency’s warrantless surveillance program. The program is not connected to the FISA surveillance issue… but may be connected to that “unmasking” of Americans who incidentally spoke with a foreign person who might have been on the NSA’s radar. Her assistant left with her. Coincidence?
“Jim” = Jim Baker, FBI General Counsel, “Mike” = Mike Kortan, “Dave” = David Laufman, “Trish”= Trish Beth Anderson.
Trish Beth Anderson is with the Office of Legal Counsel in the FBI. Her role in all of this is unclear at this time. But being mentioned in the texts is suspicious. The picture of the text mentions “302s” which are interview documents created by agents when they talk to someone regarding an investigation.
So why are they all “retiring,” getting new jobs, getting fired or reassigned? Because the FBI/DOJ is sinking until the rats all leave and stop chewing holes in the hull.
