A 402 Acre “self-governing” Islamic enclave near Josephine, Texas is called “Epic City” (East Plano Islamic Center) and reportedly comes complete with the promise of Sharia Law. Texas officials are vowing that it will “never see the light of day.” The developer is listed as “Community Capital Partners.”
Epic City may not actually be ‘epic.’
The 402-acre piece is scheduled to have a Mosque, K-12 Islamic school, 1,000+ homes, shops, assisted living facilities, apartments, and maybe even a community college. Governor Abbott called for construction to stop, but the developer claims it hasn’t started yet. According to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth News, they have not received the proper permits. The developer stated that anyone is welcome as part of the project, not just Muslims. Unfortunately for them, the history of such enclaves is that anyone who refuses to embrace the Muslim way of life is generally ostracized by the residents.

Sharia Law is illegal in Texas. Epic City stated they would work with authorities to ensure they were in total compliance with Texas law. Attorney General Ken Paxton has also launched an investigation into the proposed development.
And Sharia law is outlawed in Texas under a law I signed in 2017.

Whether a Chinese “self-governing” development, an Indian cult or a Muslim development, these kinds of enclaves should be stopped. A cult near Antelope, Oregon purchased a large acreage for followers of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in the 1980s. Eventually the Rajneesh was arrested for trying to poison the water supply in the town of The Dalles and the whole mess fell apart within 3 years.
