Did Gov Tim Walz Embellish His National Guard Record?

First, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz DID serve in the Minnesota National Guard for 24 years, from 1981 to 2005. He served with the 1/125th Field Artillery Battalion. Though he obtained the rank of Command Sergeant Major, in 2005 he was reduced to Master Sergeant for failing to complete the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.

Priorities.

After Kamala Harris chose Tim Walz as her running mate on August 6, an article in Red State by Matt Funicello revealed a disconcerting twist to Walz’ claims of National Guard service. He reportedly received a conditional appointment to Command Sergeant Major but was demoted due to a failure to complete requirements. But he left his unit without a senior command person as they were to be deployed to a war zone. He claimed it was because he was planning to “run for Congress.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“When the nation called,” Walz “quit.”

In a 2018 letter in the West Central Tribune from Command Sergeant Major Thomas Behrens (Ret) and Command Sergeant Major Paul Herr (Ret), reported that Tim Walz left the service when he knew that his unit was being deployed to Iraq. Walz was never deployed to a combat unit.

“The 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion was deployed for 22 months in 2006 – 2007. During this time, they were restricted by Army regulations and could not speak out against a candidate for office. In November 2006 he was elected to the House of Representatives. He claims to be the highest-ranking enlisted service member ever to serve in congress. Even though he was conditionally promoted to Command Sergeant Major less than eight months, quit before his obligations were met, and was reduced to Master Sergeant for retirement. Yes, he served at that rank, but was never qualified at that rank, and will receive retirement benefits at one rank below. You be the judge.

On November 1st, 2006, Tom Hagen, Iraq War Veteran, wrote a letter to the editor of the Winona Daily News. Here are a couple of sentences from the letter: But even more disturbing is the fact that Walz quickly retired after learning that his unit -southern Minnesota’s 1-125 FA Battalion – would be sent to Iraq. For Tim Walz to abandon his fellow soldiers and quit when they needed experienced leadership most is disheartening.West Central Tribune paid opinion piece

This is the left-wing person Harris chose as her running mate. His priorities are backwards. You can look up his record as the left-leaning Governor of Minnesota to see where he stands politically. His priorities are more geared towards his own future than that of America or her people.
