Democrats are claiming that everyone has to “Save Democracy” from the evil Republicans in the midterms. The nastiness has moved through every Democrat candidate, from Patty Murray (D-WA) in the Congress to Jena Griswold running for Colorado Secretary of State. They are using the Jan 6 riot to claim that “Democracy is on the ballot.” And they are quite vicious about it. But they have it backwards: America is on the ballot because Democrats have literally become the party of hate.
Griswold, for example, claims that Republicans are more beholden to Mar-a-Lago than the American people. Her hate is so deep she can’t even say Trump’s name.
“What we can expect from the extreme Republicans running across this country is to undermine free and fair elections for the American people, strip Americans of the right to vote, refuse to address security breaches and, unfortunately, be more beholden to Mar-a-Lago than the American people,” the Colorado Democrat said during an interview with the Guardian.
Griswold pointed out that many Republicans in competitive elections have echoed claims made by former President that the 2020 election was fraudulent, while the 27 races for secretary of state around the country have become key showdowns for who will control the 2024 presidential election.

First off, the United States of America is a Constitutional Republic, not a “Democracy.” And her rhetoric sounds more extreme than the farthest right winger you can find. So now Republicans are going to take away your right to vote within 3 months? Hogwash. She’s not trying to “Save Democracy” she’s trying to save her seat (or her butt as the case may be). They’re all doing it.

Then there’s the Democrats like Patty Murray, who show footage of January 6 and claim that she “won’t let Republican extremists” destroy America because “Democracy is on the ballot.” She’s running against a Trump-endorsed pro-life newcomer Tiffany Smiley, a US veteran’s wife who is out of the mainstream of political hacks like Murray. Murray is running nonstop attack ads – she must have a deep war chest of money. As of mid-July she had spent over $11 Million on her campaign for 2022, with over $6 Million on hand. (OpenSecrets.com)
Destroy. Extremists. “Semi-facists” (that one is Joe Biden’s latest little gem). Democracy is on the ballot. A lot of ignorant voters will hear the propaganda and believe it. It’s a time-worn tactic of totalitarian states to use the words to attack their rivals. The problem is that those totalitarian states always push the very destruction they aim at others. They want Republicans who disagree with them destroyed. They must be running scared, but it’s a dangerous plan.
