Border Deal Reached “In Principle” – Falls Significantly Short of $5.7 Billion

Congress has reached a “deal” that would avoid another shutdown…if the President accepts it. He has indicated there would not be another shutdown, so he may take the $1.35 Billion and go for an Executive action.

The “compromise” also keeps the amount of beds for detainees at the exact same as before- something that border agencies wanted to expand because they are out of room. They’ve left in a “flexible” possibility of using other funds to expand the bed issue.

“Am I happy? The answer is no, I’m not. I’m not happy…
I don’t think you’re going to see a shutdown. If you did have it, it’s the Democrats’ fault.” President Trump

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Congress sent a “compromise” that won’t do the job, and will only fund 55 miles of the border. It provides for barriers along the Rio Grande Valley, which is a hotspot for illegal aliens. The President has several options open to him apart from a shutdown, so we’ll have to watch and see what he does.

Rep Dan Crenshaw had something to say about the issue a few days ago, and released a video, according to the Daily Wire. He visited the border and spoke with the agents who deal with the situation every day.

The border patrol agent interviewed in the above video stated that there have been 2,700 apprehensions in the three days prior to the video. That’s an incredible amount of people.

Rep Crenshaw tells about the asylum claims being only about 15% valid of all the people who claim it. He mentions the drug cartels trafficking in children. The video ends with this:

“It’s time for Americans to hear the truth about the border debate. Secure fencing works. It’s a part of the solution, but not the whole solution. No one is asking for a 2,000 mile wall. Border security is a mix of fencing, technology, and personnel. And it is time that we fully fund the Border Patrol’s request for fencing where they need it.”

Crenshaw’s not the only one who visited the Rio Grande Valley. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) and Senator David Perdue (R-GA) spent time with agents near the McAllen part of the Rio Grande border. They issued a challenge to Democrats- “Put on your jeans and boots, leave DC and spend time with Border Patrol.” Good luck with that- Nancy might break a nail.
