Authorities nab MS-13 gang member who entered U.S. by falsely claiming to be ‘unaccompanied alien child’

Franklin Platero-Rodriguez is 21 years old. He is from El Salvador and been deported at least once for entered the country illegally and returning. On his most recent attempt, he was admitted on the pretext of being an “unaccompanied alien child.”

Since returning, he murdered a Houston man, stuffed his corpse in the trunk of a car, and doused the vehicle with gasoline before setting it on fire. Some might call Platero-Rodriguez an “animal,” while others will be content to acknowledge merely that he is a member of MS-13. Whatever you call him, he is now in police custody after two months on the lam.

According to the Daily Mail:

He was arrested in Ladson, South Carolina, after marshals in Texas tipped off sheriffs.

‘We work closely with our federal partners and arrests like this are a result of it. Platero-Rodriguez is a dangerous MS-13 gang member and I am glad that we were able to locate and arrest him without him being able to cause further harm,’ Sheriff Duane Lewis said.

At the time of his capture, Platero-Rodriguez was found carrying a loaded 9mm pistol in his front pocket that authorities “determined to have been stolen from Texas.” He was “being sought by the Walker County Texas Sheriff’s Office and by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) for a 2014 federal charge of failure to appear in connection with the March 31, 2018, murder.”
