An Arkansas man, Nathan Hughes, was arrested by armed Federal agents on August 30, 2023, after he was identified by his distinctive ears and his clothing in a surveillance video from Jan 6. His booking photo says the arresting agency was the US Marshal’s Service, but most media reports say it was the FBI. He is charged with a felony offense of interfering with police during a civil disorder and three misdemeanors, including entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, and impeding passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings. After his court appearance on Aug 31, he was released on bail of $5,000 and given a leg monitoring device.

“On the morning of August 30th 2023, I was swarmed by 3 vehicles of heavily armed FBI agents and arrested with rifles pointed at me. I was booked and taken to a government facility where they made me give them DNA samples.
At the same time, my home was raided by 10+ vehicles filled with armed FBI agents. They ordered my girlfriend Taylor out of the house with her hands up and had rifles pointed at her too. They put her in handcuffs, unplugged our home security cameras, and turned our house upside down searching it. A bunch of stuff from electronics to clothes was taken and we can’t find one of our security cams. They called the manufacturer of my Liberty Safe, got the pass code from them, and got into it too. Thank God our dogs weren’t harmed.

There are several things from this raid that are a problem: first, they got the passcode for his Liberty Safe from the manufacturer. Akin to getting a private passcode from Apple to open a phone, this is a huge breach of personal security. It isn’t a great practice for any safe manufacturer to share such information with the Federal government, especially THIS one.
Second, treating Trump supporters as terrorists worthy of simultaneous raids by armed Feds is ludicrous. The Democrat narrative of the Jan 6 riot is incorrect and has been for the last 2 1/2 years. Footage from the riot showed Capitol Police escorting Jan 6 protesters through the Capitol building, and numerous Federal agents were among the crowds. It was a setup, but beyond that, the treatment of anyone even peripherally involved on Jan 6 has been horrendous.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The narrative is that he fought with police and stole one of their shields. The official statement reads:
“ Court documents say that, at various points, Hughes pushed against the police line in the tunnel and helped other rioters physically fight police in an attempt to breach the line and enter the U.S. Capitol building. At approximately 3:15 p.m., Hughes was at the mouth of the tunnel and signaled the crowd of rioters, “C’mon! C’mon!” while waving his hand in the direction of the tunnel. After signaling to the crowd, Hughes entered the tunnel and charged toward the police line.
Inside the tunnel, Hughes continued to signal others to enter and confront the police line. Hughes then stood shoulder-to-shoulder with others and began to rock back and forth in a synchronized movement with the crowd. At about 3:18 p.m., Hughes assisted the mob with forcefully removing police riot shields and passing them out of the tunnel. Hughes also personally attempted to forcefully pull away police shields and pass them out of the tunnel back to the other rioters.
At approximately 3:19 p.m., as Hughes was being forced out of the tunnel by police, he was observed using his elbow to strike in the direction of police. After he was pushed out of the tunnel, Hughes remained in the vicinity of the tunnel for at least 90 minutes, encouraging other rioters to “Pull them out!” Earlier in the day, Hughes had witnessed the mob forcibly pulling police officers from the tunnel and into the crowd. So far at least 1,106 Americans have been arrested on charges related to the riot. A few have died before their trials.
Federal agents treating Trump supporters and even Trump himself as criminals is a red flag warning to all Americans: we are losing our freedoms at a rapid pace. The cabal that runs our government is totally corrupt, and they want it to stay that way. You can turn a blind eye and stick your head in the sand, or you can come up with a solution that works. Even our elections may not be enough to stop this runaway train. For people like Nathan Hughes, this is a train to hell.
