The latest scandal involving former FBI Director James Comey illustrates the abject hypocrisy and self-serving nature of both the Democrat party and the mainstream media, which I have appropriately named the “Make-Believe Media.”
Both the media and elected Democrats are already demanding impeachment proceedings be brought against President Donald Trump based on the claim that Comey has an as yet undisclosed self-serving memo purporting to memorialized a conversation in which Trump allegedly expressed a hope that the Flynn investigation would go away following Flynn’s ouster. Without evidence, without context, media, Democrats and Republicans are suggesting that Trump may be guilty of obstruction of justice, an impeachable offense.
The true hypocrisy of the Left is on display.
Recall that less than eight months ago, according to the New Yorker Magazine in an article dated October 29, 2016, Department of Justice Attorney General Loretta Lynch asked then FBI Director James Comey not to go public on Hillary Clinton’s investigation.

Lynch expressed her preference that Comey follow the department’s longstanding practice of not commenting on ongoing investigations, and not taking any action that could influence the outcome of an election, but he said that he felt compelled to do otherwise.
As we know Comey violated Lynch’s orders and the department’s “long-standing tradition” by dramatically calling a press conference less than two weeks before the 2016 presidential election to publically announce new evidence concerning the matter of Hillary Clinton’s private server. Democrats all but blame Comey for Hillary’s loss to Donald Trump.
I don’t really blame Comey,” another former Justice Department official said. “But it’s troubling.” This official thought that Comey “didn’t want to look tainted. This new information comes to him, and he’s afraid if he doesn’t make it public until after the election he’ll be impeached. People will say he lied to Congress. But in the end he did the self-protective thing.
So why didn’t Loretta Lynch, the Democrats, and the media scream “obstruction of justice” and demand Lynch’s prosecution and ouster for ordering Comey to keep the Hillary email server investigation secret? And where is James Comey’s CYA memo detailing the context in which Lynch pressured him not to report information bearing on the ongoing
The media and the Democrats are hypocrites, using unsubstantiated rumor and hearsay to create a relentless scandal mentality surrounding Donald Trump. They do this for two reasons: 1) in hopes of delegitimizing or paralyzing his ability to lead; and 2) to negatively affect the public’s impression of the President so as to influence the outcome of the midterm elections and regain power.
