Columnist who got PTSD from shooting an AR-15 blames NRA for police shooting of Philando Castile

Reporter who got PTSD from shooting an AR-15 now wants to ban "God Bless America"You remember Gersh Kuntzman, right?  He’s the New York Daily News commentator who allegedly got a form of PTSD after shooting an AR-15 and then demanded that “God Bless America” be banned from baseball games.  He’s back at it, this time blaming the NRA for the police shooting of Philando Castile.

According to Kuntzman, police shot him because the NRA encourages citizens to arm themselves.

On Thursday, he wrote:

I don’t immediately blame the cops and I certainly don’t blame the victims.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

I blame the gun nuts.

Gun lovers and their mouthpieces at the National Rifle Association have done more to damage police-community relations than poor cop training, racism, crime and fear could ever do.

And it’s all due to the NRA’s twisted, sick perversion of the Second Amendment from a cherished right to keep and bear arms as part of a well-regulated national defense into a call to “stand your ground” in all circumstances.

That’s right.  According to Kuntzman, gun owners and the NRA are to blame, all because that darn Second Amendment ensures the right to keep and bear arms.

There’s no question that Castile’s shooting was tragic and quite possibly avoidable.  The New York Times reported:

Late Thursday night, the authorities said Mr. Castile, a 32-year-old cafeteria supervisor at a St. Paul school, had been killed by multiple gunshot wounds, and the medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. State investigators identified the officer who shot him as Jeronimo Yanez, a four-year veteran of the St. Anthony Police Department.

Much remained unknown about the events leading up to the shooting, about Officer Yanez’s background, and about whether the Justice Department would open a separate, federal investigation into the case.

In short, we don’t know all the facts in the case, even though the aftermath was live-streamed by his fiancé.

According to Diamond Reynolds, Castile “let the officer know that he had a firearm and he was reaching for his wallet and the officer just shot him in his arm” after he was pulled over for a broken taillight.

Yet here comes Kuntzman, eager to dance on the man’s grave to point a crooked finger of blame at the NRA.

Since the shooting, protests erupted nationwide, and snipers killed five officers in Dallas, Texas.  No doubt, Kuntzman blames the NRA for that as well.

No, Mr. Kuntzman, the NRA had absolutely nothing to do with this — the cop who pulled the trigger did.  Surely you’re old enough and mature enough to realize that, right?

This immediate rush to blame all police officers (a la Black Lives Matter) and all gun owner (a la Kuntzman and others like him) is, quite frankly, getting tiresome.

Kuntzman, allegedly, is a “responsible” member of the so-called “mainstream media.”  He should know by now that his words can have consequences.  Five officers are now dead in Dallas, thanks to snipers who no doubt were whipped into a frenzy by the irresponsible rhetoric of the left.

It’s time for Kuntzman and his ilk to do us all a favor and simply shut up… At least until the smoke has cleared and we know all the facts.
