Warmonger? Questions raised after Obama expels Russians over alleged hacks

On Thursday, the Obama regime expelled 35 Russians suspected of being spies and imposed sanctions on two Russian intelligence agencies over their alleged involvement in hacking U.S. political groups in the 2016 presidential election, Reuters reported. But questions have been raised by many who see this as a temper tantrum by an administration whose agenda was soundly rejected by voters in November.

According to Reuters:

The measures, taken during the last days of Obama’s presidency, mark a new post-Cold War low in U.S.-Russian ties and set up a potential flashpoint between incoming President-elect Donald Trump and fellow Republicans in Congress over how to deal with Moscow.

Obama, a Democrat, had promised consequences after U.S. intelligence officials blamed Russia for hacks intended to influence the 2016 election. Officials pointed the finger directly at Russian President Vladimir Putin for personally directing the efforts and primarily targeting Democrats, who put pressure on Obama to respond.

“These actions follow repeated private and public warnings that we have issued to the Russian government, and are a necessary and appropriate response to efforts to harm U.S. interests in violation of established international norms of behavior,” Obama said in a statement from Hawaii, where he is on vacation.

“All Americans should be alarmed by Russia’s actions,” he said.

But it seems that Americans are more alarmed by Obama’s actions.

Twitchy wondered “where were the Obama administration’s concerns before? What was it that suddenly lit the fire under their butts?”

Could it be the fact that Trump beat Hillary?

Plenty of media — the same media who relentlessly mocked Mitt Romney for calling Russia our number one geopolitical foe — have suddenly discovered that Russia is in fact a very real threat to American security. Many outlets are even referring to the Russian cyberattacks as “election hacking,” which is, of course, extremely dishonest, to put it mildly.

A post at the Gateway Pundit notes:

There are no coincidences in Obama’s world.

This is a nakedly political move. It’s likely just another attempt to discredit Trump’s victory.

And Obama is messing with foreign policy to do it.

In an update, the blog asked:

Lots of people are suggesting the 35 diplomats who were expelled are spies but this only raises more questions. Why were Russian spies allowed to remain in the U.S. until now? Would these spies have been expelled if Hillary had won the election?

One Russian embassy responded:

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded, calling the Obama regime liars and threatening a response:

The outgoing US administration has not given up on its hope of dealing one last blow to relations with Russia, which it has already destroyed. Using obviously inspired leaks in the US media, it is trying to threaten us again with expansion of anti-Russian sanctions, “diplomatic” measures and even subversion of our computer systems. Moreover, this final New Year’s “greeting” from Barack Obama’s team, which is already preparing to leave the White House, is being cynically presented as a response to some cyber-attacks from Moscow.

Frankly speaking, we are tired of lies about Russian hackers that continue to be spread in the United States from the very top. The Obama administration launched this misinformation half a year ago in a bid to play up to the required nominee at the November presidential election and, having failed to achieve the desired effect, has been trying to justify its failure by taking it out with a vengeance on Russian-US relations.

However, the truth about the White House-orchestrated provocation is bound to surface sooner or later. In fact, this is already happening. On December 8, US media quoted Georgia’s Secretary of State Brian Kemp as saying that the local authorities tracked down the origin of a hacker attack on his voter registration database after the election. The attack was traced to an IP address of the Department of Homeland Security. This was followed by an attempt to quickly cover up this information by a flood of new anti-Russian accusations that did not contain a single piece of evidence.

We can only add that if Washington takes new hostile steps, it will receive an answer. This applies to any actions against Russian diplomatic missions in the United States, which will immediately backfire at US diplomats in Russia. The Obama administration probably does not care at all about the future of bilateral relations, but history will hardly forgive it for this après-nous-le-deluge attitude.

But the regime isn’t finished. According to Reuters, Obama said Thursday’s actions are just the beginning.

“These actions are not the sum total of our response to Russia’s aggressive activities. We will continue to take a variety of actions at a time and place of our choosing, some of which will not be publicized,” Obama said.

Which makes one wonder: Is Obama pushing for nuclear war with Russia in revenge for Trump’s victory?
