Vermont bistro under fire for yanking sign advertising bacon over complaint from one Muslim woman

baconEarlier today, I reported that Sneakers Bistro, a restaurant based in Winooski, Vermont, removed a sign that read, “Yield Sneakers Bacon,” after a Muslim woman complained online, calling it offensive and insensitive to those who don’t eat bacon.

“We are here to serve people BREAKFAST, not politics,” the owners said on Facebook. “We removed the sign that was located on public property as a gesture of respect for our diverse community. There were also concerns raised about safety. Removing it was not a difficult decision. We still love bacon. We still love eggs. Please have the political conversation elsewhere.”

It seems that a lot of people aren’t to happy with the decision.

Will Donald Trump win the 2024 election?

Oh, it’s factual, all right. And yes, we are becoming a nation of idiots.

A post at Chicks on the Right notes:

You guys, we are talking about the WORD “bacon” here.  This Muslim woman was offended because she saw the word bacon on a sign. Does she protest every grocery store?  Does she protest every farm? And if she took the time to whine about the HORROR of seeing the word “bacon” on a small yard sign, I’m just curious –  did she express any outrage about the video of James Foley being beheaded in the name of HER FREAKING RELIGION?  Did she speak out about that?  Or was she too busy trying to turn an American city into a shadow of its former self?

Good question.

One person observed:

We attempted to find a page for the company, but couldn’t find one.  There is, however, a page asking supporters to let the bistro know how they feel about the decision.  It’s a small page right now, having only been started on Sunday, but I suspect it’ll grow as time goes on.  You can see the page here.

I wonder if the woman who complained is also offended by ISIS terrorists cutting a five-year-old boy in half or burying women and children alive because they aren’t Muslim.
