UN Hypocrisy: UN Office Showcases Communist Murderer Che Guevara

The UN office displayed a large photo of the Communist mass murderer Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara at their headquarters in Geneva in February, according to Breitbart. It’s not the first time they have sought to glorify the tyrant, and it likely won’t be the last. Geneva is also the home of the United Nations “Human Rights Council.” Their definition of “human rights” appears to be light years apart from reality.

In 2013, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) honored mass murderer Che Guevara by including the ‘Life and Works of Ernesto Che Guevara’ into a world memory project to “preserve them for all generations”.

“We must say here something that is a well-known truth and that we have always asserted before the whole world: executions? Yes, we have executed people; we are executing people and shall continue to execute people as long as it is necessary.” Ernesto “Che” Guevara

The US mission to UNESCO strongly opposed the inclusion of any honor for the Communist tyrant. But it fell on deaf ears. Guevara was not a “freedom fighter” – he and Fidel Castro plunged Cuba into a Communist dictatorship that destroyed their modern society and murdered vast amounts of its citizens. Guevara was killed in Bolivia while attempting to create a “revolution” there as well.

“Che was a totalitarian. He achieved nothing but disaster. Many of the early leaders of the Cuban Revolution favored a democratic-socialist direction for the new Cuba. But Che was a mainstay of the hardline pro-Soviet faction, and his faction won. Che presided over the Cuban Revolution’s first firing squads. He founded Cuba’s “labor camp” system — the system that was eventually employed to incarcerate gays, dissidents and AIDS victims.” Paul Berman wrote in 2004

David Killion, the US envoy to UNESCO, called for the UN to reconsider their action in 2013:

Che Guevara is a controversial figure who advocated violence and made no apologies for executing people in the pursuit of revolution. UNESCO should not memorialize the writing nor glorify the memory of a person who advocated, ‘hate as a factor in the struggle, intransigent hatred for the enemy that takes one beyond the natural limitations of a human being and converts one into an effective, violent, selective, cold killing machine.
Our soldiers must be like that; a people without hate cannot triumph over a brutal enemy,’ and, ‘If any person has a good word for the previous government that is good enough for me to have him shot.’  David Killion, 2013

The US and Israel pulled out of UNESCO in January 2019, stating bias. That’s only one issue. Honoring mass murderers is another problem both the United Nations and their member cohorts at UNESCO seem to embrace.
