Warning: graphic photos

Omaha, Nebraska – On May 22nd, a group of activists supposedly held a “pig roast” at Montclair Park in Omaha. Then they marched to the parking lot of the Omaha Police Officer’s Association, and dumped three severed pig heads. Seven activists were arrested after the 9 p.m. deadline came for them to move on. The group was called the Revolutionary Action Party.

Protesters gathered and walked around with a megaphone chanting, “the cops and Klan go hand in hand” for approximately 20 minutes. All while flaunting their three severed pig heads with costume police hats.

Police stood quietly by, periodically telling the 40-50 protesters that they were trespassing and would need to disperse by 9 p.m..

According to Omaha Police, the crowd was informed via a PA system that they were trespassing on private property and told multiples times over 10 minutes to disperse. Police declared the gathering an “unlawful assembly” at 9:10 p.m., and made additional announcements for the crowd to disperse, OPD said. Officers then advanced on the crowd to begin making arrests, at which point those still assembled fled into the streets.

WOWT

This is not okay.

What part of this is okay? Pay attention to those that are denouncing this act and those that are silent.

Remember, according to some, your silence is violence and agreement to this despicable act.

I want to publicly thank the on-duty police officers that responded and protected the OPOA hall tonight. I know you are hero’s and I am proud to be your voice I’m (sic) this crazy world.

Andrew Conner, OPOA President

Anthony Conner, who is Black, is President of the Omaha Police Officer’s Association (OPOA). He posted photos of the three severed pig heads on his Facebook page.

The protest supposedly was over a flyer that OPOA created against candidate Cammy Watkins who reportedly wanted to defund police. She lost the election. The Revolutionary Action Party denounced the flyer as “fascist, racist, sexist, and patriarchal propaganda.”

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert denounced the actions of the protesters:

“The disgusting incident at the Omaha Police Officers Association headquarters Saturday night was intended to provoke conflict. The responding officers acted professionally and responsibly after repeated attempts to peacefully clear private property.”
