Monday, May 29, 2023, was Memorial Day — a day set aside to remember and honor those who gave their lives in defense of this great country. Earlier, we posted some articles about a few of those brave individuals who deserve to be remembered:
- When Admiral Jeremiah Denton Met God
- Memorial Day Special: THIS Is What American Troops Are Made Of…
So, how did Google mark the day? Did they post a stirring graphic of men and women in uniform offering a hand salute? Did they post a picture of Arlington Cemetery, replete with U.S. flags? Did they even post a graphic saying, “Thank you?”
No.
What they did post, however, will make your head explode:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
That’s it. Nothing more.
The Gateway Pundit reminds us that just days earlier, the search engine “celebrated the life of Barbara May Cameron, a relatively unknown lesbian rights activist.”

But this is all service-members who died for this country get:

By 10:00 PM Pacific Time, that had been changed to this:
Apparently, the men and women who died for this country don’t even rate colored letters. We’re not surprised, really. We are talking about a woke, left-wing Silicon Valley censorship giant, after all.
Twitter users had thoughts:
That's pretty thin brother. Having been on many a UI teams – the tradition of the google search art was to be an interpretable symbol. Simple Greyscale doesn't communicate "somber" it indicates unfinished, minimal or previously interacted. This is a miss, intentional or not.

True. Another Twitter user observed:
To be fair, it does have a nice message when you click it, but what incentive is there to click it? That’s the blandest Google logo I’ve ever seen and they literally spend millions everywhere trying to find new ones 😂

Yep…
Hey @Google! You suck! pic.twitter.com/kWoLRP2oWt

We agree.
Would expect nothing less from google

Sad, isn’t it?
@Google is too busy preparing 30 different pride logos for next month

Ah, that explains it.
I suppose it could’ve been worse. They could’ve put up something like this:
Yes, it’s highly offensive, and would’ve really pissed off a lot of people. But at least it would’ve been a little more honest.
