With Donald Trump in office and making stupendous changes at the federal level, we’re witnessing the left having an epic meltdown on a national (and, some might argue, international) scale. It’s unprecedented, because for the first time in generations, the left isn’t getting their way. Like a toddler, they’re having a full-blown tantrum as a result.
From the progressive viewpoint, one of the most infuriating aspects of the current administration is the amount of sheer joy it’s taking in pruning government back to constitutional limitations and weeding out the staggering amounts of fraud and waste. “I think that’s something the press are having a hard time with,” confirms White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. “We are genuinely having so much fun. … As staff and the president himself is having the time of his life, I mean, he loves doing these Oval Office press conferences.”
We all know, of course, that had Trump been returned to office in 2020 (i.e., had the election not been blatantly stolen), two things would NOT have occurred. One, Americans would not have seen the disastrous outcome of a truly liberal agenda being implemented without apology and without restraint. And two, Trump would not have had four years to learn, observe, study and plan. That’s why he’s been able to make such incredible surgical strikes that started literally within minutes of his swearing-in and hasn’t even begun to abate. He had this planned for four years.
The big question is, why hasn’t the left engaged in the widespread destruction, arson, sabotage and rioting it did earlier? One of the reasons seems to be the defunding of USAID, which appears to have been nothing but a progressive international money-laundering operation in which Your Tax Dollars were used (among much else) to weaponize the government against its own citizens.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
“When Trump shut down USAID to go through their books, the entire left collapsed,” noted columnist Derek Hunter. “Democrats could not react, their funding was stopped and their scams were exposed. … They were too stunned to protest, and too broke – USAID laundered hundreds of millions, if not billions, into global leftist activism and violence. Suddenly it was like driving a car that had all the oil drained, everything seized.”
To be fair, the left has thought up a slew of retaliatory measures. One that came to my attention last week took place on Feb. 28. The People’s Union USA, which describes itself as a “grassroots movement dedicated to economic resistance, government accountability, and corporate reform,” urged Americans to refrain from spending a single dollar anywhere in the country on that date. The movement was begun by John Schwarz, a self-described “mindfulness and meditation facilitator.”
This “economic blackout” was supposed to bring the nation to its knees while fighting “economic injustice, low wages, high interest rates, outsourced jobs, and the growing abandonment of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.” Conveniently, merchandise was available to advertise this boycott, including $29 Economic Blackout commemorative T-shirts and $69 flags. As CNN put it, “the boycott has gained strength online because it has captured visceral public anger with the American economy, corporations and politics.”
(Oh, update: It turns out John Schwarz, the guy behind the “economic blackout,” is also on the sex-offender’s registry. Surprise!)
The event was, to put it mildly, a complete yawner. I don’t think anyone noticed at all. As Danielle Berjikian noted, “The entire reason for the protest makes no sense. If this ‘grassroots movement is dedicated to economic resistance, government accountability, and corporate reform,’ then why would they be protesting the Trump administration? Shouldn’t they be supporting government efficiency and transparency? Why would they not want to end the fraudulent use of taxpayer funds? That is something these leftists cannot answer, as they are solely going off social media trends, as they are factually misinformed. So while they believe they are morally obligated to do whatever it is they plan to do [on Feb. 28], it’s meaningless, to say the very least. But hey, at least they tried, right?”
Not to be outdone, Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell took a swipe at Trump, trying to pin the slew of plane accidents and crashes on the president: “No president has had more planes crash in their first month in office than Donald Trump,” he tweeted. To this, venture capitalist and marketing executive Mike Solana replied, “The reason they keep hammering on this offensively stupid position – that Trump, in a few weeks of governance, has somehow caused these plane crashes – is they literally have nothing else. The Democrats have never been this lost in any of our lives.”
The next tactic the left is desperately trying to use is to scare the American people into believing Trump will be cutting Medicare and Medicaid, leaving millions destitute. That, points out GOP Rep. Tim Burchett, “is just a lie. All we’re trying to do is cut out waste, fraud, and abuse. And that will free up … more dollars for the folks that need it. The people that are behind the misinformation, obviously, have got a dog in this fight; and the dog is, they’re getting rich off of it. They’re getting rich off the money that should be going to folks that are in need, and they are fighting it.”
And still the pathetic efforts continue. Columnist Matt Vespa on Townhall notes, “There’s been a recent attempt to peddle a narrative that buyer’s remorse surrounds Donald Trump. There isn’t. The media tried to declare his approval ratings were plummeting when they were not. Voters have the information at their disposal, so when they see that headline about dipping approval ratings and then check, only to find that the most anti-Trump outlets are the ones with such polls, they ignore it, and rightfully so. … Meanwhile, the most accurate pollster for the 2024 election – Atlas – reported that Trump’s approval has only grown since he took office.”
“Why, yes, I did vote for this. Thank you ever so much for asking,” snarks Stephen Kruiser on PJ Media.
And so the leftist search for something – anything – to halt the tsunami of Trump support continues. But as the left’s activism falls flat and their message is ignored, what happens next? What will they do to recapture their previous supremacy in the media, education, Hollywood and of course the federal government?
But all is not sunshine and roses with leftists’ ongoing failures. Derek Hunter had a good point about their dangerous instability. “Let them melt, let them freak. Enjoy it while you can,” he wrote. “But be on guard – the lunatic arguing with the garbage can be amusing to watch from afar, but the odds are high they will turn violent toward anyone they see as taking the garbage can’s side at some point. Unstable people rarely pull up from that nosedive, they more frequently hit the side of the mountain and take as many people as they can with them.”
