The COVID-19 Factor – Congress Decides to Work Together?

And suddenly, just like that, there is “unity.” The COVID-19 factor has Congress actually working together. So far, Congress has been able to shove through two Coronavirus bills, with a third one (phase 3) on the way that will likely top $1 Trillion. I’d call it the most expensive fear-driven ‘bipartisanship’ in our history.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“Congress is certainly working together. The Senate managed to pass the House coronavirus bill without amendments by a 90-8 margin, sending it to Trump’s desk just two days after the House passed a technical fix to the legislation.

The expedited passage of the House legislation was a stark departure from the usual interaction between the chambers. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the self-styled “Grim Reaper” for the House’s “socialist agenda,” has been at odds with House Democrats since they took control of the lower chamber in early 2019.

“This is a time for urgent bipartisan action, and, in this case, I do not believe we should let perfection be the enemy of something that will help even a subset of workers,” McConnell said on the Senate floor Wednesday, announcing he would vote for the second coronavirus bill despite some perceived shortcomings.

And even before the Senate ushered through the second bill, members of Congress and the Trump administration were falling over each other to offer up ideas for another piece of legislation.”

Either all of these bills will cause crushing debt that will haunt us and our children and our children’s children for decades to come, or they will stimulate the economy and help to pull us out of the upcoming recession. The “unity” we are seeing will probably not last much past the virus slowdown, but it’s a start.

Is it finally finding common ground in the wake of a virus that is roaring through the nation and hitting close to home with members of Congress? Two members have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus: Rep Mario Diaz-Balart, R-FL., and Ben McAdams, D-UT. Did the COVID-19 factor “scare” them into doing something?

Personally, I never trust it when Trump’s enemies are suddenly on his side. Take, for example, Ilhan Omar, who has been consistently hateful towards the President, is now praising his “incredible” response to the virus. She could be just trying to cover her rear end from marrying a third person after her very public affair. But still, trust is earned and she has none. She couldn’t even deliver her own district for Bernie Sanders in Tuesday’s primary. Tsk.Tsk.

The silver lining in this whole thing after the virus is actually Donald J Trump. As a billionaire who has been through everything from incredible prosperity to bankrupt businesses, he is the only person who could lead America out of this mess from the COVID-19 factor.
