Tens of Thousands Attend Pro-Israel Rally in DC

Some buses refused to take Jews from Detroit to the rally- claimed it was a "sick-out."

Media estimates of between 250,000 and 290,000 pro-Israel protesters descended on the National Mall on November 14, 2023 in a pro-Israel rally sponsored by the Jewish Federations of North America. They were there to stand against antisemitism, and advocate for the release of the hostages taken by Hamas. Even with that huge amount, approximately 900-1000 Detroit-area Jews never made it to the rally because of some sort of snaffu with bus drivers refusing to take them.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Bus fiasco

Hundreds of Jewish people traveling from Detroit to the pro-Israel rally in Washington, D.C., did not have a lift from the airport and were told it was due to a bus driver “sick-out.”

“About two and a half hours after landing in D.C. from Detroit, rumors started going around the plane that there was an ongoing walkout of the bus drivers who worked for the company that the Jewish Federation of Detroit hired to drive us into the city for the rally,” Jonah Seinfeld Chopp said on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning.

He said a representative from the federation got on the plane’s speaker and told them there were bus drivers refusing to pick them up from Dulles International Airport and take them into the city to the protest. Fox

Organizers said that they had to “show their support from wherever they could.” Whether it was the broker’s fault or the bus drivers themselves, it is unclear whether it was intentional or just an effect from a “sick-out.” What was the “sick-out” about? Was this an incident of antisemitism?  Where were those “sick-out” drivers from?

Accusations

And of course, the left had to try and accuse Jews of bribing students to attend the rally. As if college students had the money to travel to DC and that was some sort of crime to help them. The Israel on Campus Coalition has a program called “microgrants.” The accusation spread on social media that the coalition was giving $250 to any Israeli student that applied to attend the pro-Israel rally. $250 would not make much difference if a student wanted to fly to the rally- those tickets were excessively expensive, depending upon the starting point. But it was termed as a “bribe” by the left.

We reached out to ICC for comment but have not heard back from them as of this writing. We’ll update this article if they respond.

While the post below appears legitimate, I was unable to locate it either under Shanie Philips profile or the Cafe Ivrit group or the Facebook page of the Israel on Campus Coalition. The Israel on Campus Coalition had no mention of giving $250 to Jewish students to attend the rally. It may have been taken down, or it may be a false AI generated image.

The left goes to great lengths to attack Jews, whether students or citizens. Their actions are evil, and reminiscent of the antisemitism of the Nazis. The pro-Israel rally at the National Mall was historic in its attendance. Approximately 250,000 people who could not attend watched the rally online as well.
