Springfield Walmart – Good guy With a Gun Stops Armed Suspect

Missouri – Around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, a man dressed in military fatigues, wearing a tactical vest, carrying a rifle and 100 rounds of ammo, walked into a Springfield Walmart Neighborhood Market. An off duty firefighter held him at gunpoint at the exit until police arrived a few minutes later.

The Springfield Walmart Neighborhood Market is located at 3150 W. Republic Rd. Police identified the suspect Friday morning:
“On the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, Springfield Police Officers arrested 20-year-old (DOB: 09/29/1998) Dmitriy N. Andreychenko for 1st degree making a terrorist threat.
Once formal charges are filed by the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office more information will be released.”

Andreychenko was charged with First Degree Making a Terrorist Threat on Friday morning. What was his intent? The way he was dressed, it probably wasn’t to make people feel at ease with his presence. According to witnesses, he was walking around the store recording video with his cell phone.
A store manager reportedly pulled the fire alarm to evacuate the store, and an off duty firefighter held the suspect at gunpoint at the exit until police arrived.
Did this man do this just to scare the people in the store and film their reactions? It wasn’t funny. People are now so jumpy about this kind of thing, he could easily have been killed.
“His intent was not to cause peace or comfort … He’s lucky he’s alive still, to be honest.” Police Lt Mike Lucas to KYTV
Based on some of his background on social media, Heavy reported that he is married, and “loves God and guns.” This time he made a stupid decision that will ruin his life from now on.
Missouri is an open carry state, which means that as long as the weapon is carried in a non-threatening manner, it’s legal. The tactical vest, the fatigues, the gun, the ammo – all legal in Missouri, at least as of this writing.
Causing total panic was foolish, particularly knowing about the “climate” of the country after recent shootings. Maybe he was trying to make a point, but if so, it fell on deaf ears. And now he’s charged with a felony. His trip to a Springfield Walmart was literally life-changing in all the wrong ways. We can only hope that it won’t ultimately cause the loss of rights for everyone else in Missouri.
