Southwest Airlines flight 1380 from New York to Dallas was forced to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia on Tuesday when an engine on the 737 exploded, and shrapnel from the explosion broke a window that nearly sucked a woman out of the plane. Other passengers grabbed her and dragged her back into the cabin. There were 143 passengers and 5 crew members on the plane.
The pilots made a safe landing under extraordinary circumstances.
One passenger was in critical condition and nine others injured in the incident, although it is unclear whether a passenger had a heart attack or was the one injured from the window. It was reported that the plane also lost hydraulics and pilots had to land it manually. The NTSB is investigating.

Passenger Marty Martinez wrote on his video Facebook post during the incident:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
“Engine exploded (we think) and shattered one of the windows killing a passenger. Flight attendants ran over calling for passengers to help cover the hole as they broke down and began uncontrollably crying and looking horrified as they looked outside. Plane dropped dramatically and it smelled like fire with ash coming down on everyone thru the vents. Absolutely terrifying, but we are okay.” He told CBS news that there was “blood everywhere” in the aircraft.
