Senate Democrats Set to Spend MILLIONS in Georgia Runoff

While election day may have come and gone, there are still plenty of races left undecided out there in America today.  While some are unfinished simply due to the logistical machinations of the election itself, a key race in Georgia that could decide the balance of the Senate is headed to a runoff.

With neither Incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock or Republican challenger Herschel Walker receiving at least 50% of the vote, the two will be forced by state law to face off again on December 6th – a situation that has Peach State voters once again in the crosshairs of the national political weapon.

Given the potential implications of the race, Senate Democrats appear ready to shell out big bucks in the coming weeks.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is spending $7 million on field operations in the Georgia Senate runoff, kicking off an expensiv overtime race that could give the winning party control of the Senate.

The DSCC’s multimillion-dollar expenditure on its ground game will fund direct voter contact programs, particularly door-to-door canvassing, according to details shared first with POLITICO. The DSCC’s program will fortify get-out-the-vote work conducted by a constellation of nonprofits, PACs and Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock‘s campaign.

Neither Warnock nor Republican Herschel Walker cleared 50 percent during Tuesday’s election, forcing a head-to-head matchup on Dec. 6 between the two candidates. The four-week blitz could break spending records, should the balance of power in the Senate be decided by the results out of Georgia.

The money will be spent to reach voters in a very direct, literal way.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“We know talking directly to voters through a strong, well-funded ground-game is critical to winning in Georgia, and we’re wasting no time in kick-starting these programs in the runoff,” DSCC chair Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) said in a statement.

The pair of candidates have already been exchanging personal, ugly insults in the race, and there is little doubt that the rhetoric to come will be even nastier leading up to December 6th.
