Rasmussen: Republicans hold 13-point lead in looming mid-terms

Joe Biden and his Democrat colleagues could be facing an election day disaster, according to a new Rasmussen survey.

The 2022 midterm elections are less than 265 days away, and while that maybe an eternity in politics, Democrats should be very nervous as a new Rasmussen survey shows Republicans ahead by 13 points in their effort to capture Congress.

According to a new poll released Friday, “if the elections for Congress were held today, 50% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Republican candidate, while 37% would vote for the Democrat. Just four percent (4%) would vote for some other candidate, but another nine percent (9%) are not sure.”

Of course, the problem with such remarks is that the election is not being held today. It’s about 8 ½ months away, and that is plenty of time for Democrats—with the aid of establishment media that has paid little to no attention to the report on the Russia collusion hoax from John Durham—to recover. And Republicans have been known to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Rasmussen says Republicans have added four points to their advantage since last month, and the polling firm noted 13 points “is larger than Democrats enjoyed at any time during the 2018 midterm campaign, due both to greater GOP partisan intensity and a 22-point advantage among independents.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

But here is something telling about Democrats and their morale just 13 months into an administration with a Democrat majority on Capitol Hill: “While 89% of Republican voters say they would vote for their own party’s congressional candidate, only 77% of Democrats would vote for the Democratic candidate. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 46% would vote Republican and 24% would vote Democrats, while 10% would vote for some other candidate and 20% are undecided.”

There has been something of an announced exit from Congress by a lot more Democrats than Republicans. Maybe they see voter frustration turning to outright anger over gas and grocery prices—the two most noticeable drains on the family budget—while workers see their retirement savings lose value due to the stock market, a potential for war in the Ukraine, a president who seems incoherent at times, and rising crime.

Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows Joe Biden still in the tank with only 20 percent of voters “strongly” approving of his job performance, but a whopping 47 percent “strongly” disapproving. He’s got a presidential approval index rating of -27.

Then comes the controversial John Durham report strongly indicating a direct link between the Trump-Russia hoax to the Hillary Clinton campaign. That’s an anchor that may only get heavier as the campaign season approaches.

According to a separate Rasmussen poll, “A majority of voters think special counsel John Durham’s accusations against Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign are very important, and agree with former President Donald Trump that it’s a scandal worse than Watergate.”

“Rasmussen Reports finds that 68% of Likely U.S. voters believe this accusation is important, including 50% who think it’s Very Important,” Rasmussen said Thursday. “Twenty-seven percent (27%) don’t think Durham’s allegation against Clinton’s campaign is important, including 16% who say it’s Not at All Important.”

Incredibly, while most of the establishment media virtually ignored the Durham bombshell report, an online firearms news website—AmmoLand.com—covered the report, primarily because Clinton has been lately making noises that sound suspiciously like pre-campaign statements. She has never been friendly toward the Second Amendment.

All things considered, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer should be happy this isn’t November. As noted by Rasmussen, “Voters under 40 favor Democrats by a margin of 45% to 39%, but the majority of older voters – 53% of those ages 40-64 and 59% of those 65 and older – would vote Republican if the election were held today.”
