Offensive Text Messages: Who Cares? The FBI

Being offended is not against the law

The FBI is investigating “offensive text messages.” With terrorists loose in the country, illegal crime rampant in US cities, and any number of other crimes to check on, they’re worried about “offensive text messages.”

The offensive text messages – and emails, by the way, were sent to Black Americans across the nation. The universal answer: block them and move on. The Constitution doesn’t protect you from jerks. Even the Bible warns that “offenses will come.” Is this something for the FBI?

“The FBI is aware of the offensive and racist text messages sent to African American and Black communities around the country and is in contact with the Justice Department and other federal authorities on the matter. The reports are not identical and vary in their specific language, but many say the recipient has been selected to pick cotton on a plantation.

The text message recipients have now expanded to high school students, as well as both the Hispanic and LGBTQIA+ communities. Some recipients reported being told they were selected for deportation or to report to a re-education camp. The messages have also been reported as being received via email communication.

Although we have not received reports of violent acts stemming from these offensive messages, we are evaluating all reported incidents and engaging with the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division. We are also sharing information with our law enforcement partners and community, academia, and faith leaders.

Recipients of messages consistent with those described are encouraged to report the details to the FBI by phone at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or online at tips.fbi.gov

As always, we encourage members of the public to remain vigilant and report threats of violence or anything they consider suspicious to law enforcement immediately, call their local FBI office, or submit a report to tips.fbi.gov.” FBI Statement

Some of the hundreds of responses to that statement are below. We didn’t have room to list them all. But we can state: the FBI is completely worthless if this is their focus.

These “offensive text messages” are a nuisance, and whoever sent them is an idiot. Whether or not a simple blocking of each one will work is unknown- spammers tend to change their numbers or emails all the time. But seriously: is this a job for the FBI? They have lots of things in their own agency that need real investigating.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Politicians have made similar “suggestion” in open forums. Will the FBI investigate those? Not likely.

“Offensive text messages” is a subjective term, not a legal one. Terroristic threats are a legal issue. But the FBI statement only mentions stupid statements that are obviously sent by a moronic person much like Hillary.
