NYPD is in Distress, Streets Falling to Chaos

The head of the NYPD Police Benevolent Association is calling for a “no confidence” vote for both NYC Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner James O’Neill. And he wants both of them removed from their offices: The “NYPD is in distress and the streets are falling to chaos.”

After Commissioner O’Neill announced that he was firing Officer Daniel Pantaleo over the Eric Garner incident from 2014, Patrick Lynch, President of the Police Union called them both out.

“Turn the flag upside down – we’re in distress … The captain has jumped ship. The mayor told him to do it. And the streets are falling to chaos.

… The job is dead because the leadership of this city and the police department is absolute afraid of the criminal advocates. And based this decision not on the facts, but based this decision on the politics. What makes it equally sad is that due process is now gone for New York City police officers…

…It’s absolutely essential that the world know the New York City Police Department is ‘rudderless and frozen.’ The leadership has abandoned ship and left our police officers on the street, alone, without backing.

This mayor needs to be removed. The police commissioner needs to know he has lost the police department. There is no confidence in their leadership at City Hall and One Police Plaza.” Patrick Lynch

Blue Lives Matter

Now let’s hit the nitty gritty- how much of this distress is being felt department wide, not just for the firing of one officer? NINE (9) NYPD Officers have committed suicide recently. When radicals doused a squad of NYPD officers with water recently, they did not respond at all. Are they no longer going to take any action whatsoever if the leadership no longer has their back?

“I  think that guys will be much less likely to be proactive, much less likely to chase people down. They’ll be more likely to just take a report.” NYPD official

Officer Pantaleo was told that his pension was vested after 13 years, and even if fired, he would be allowed to keep it. The paperwork was being created when he was fired. Now leadership canned that idea and have taken away that pension. Their word means nothing.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

August 2: “An NYPD trial judge recommended Officer Daniel Pantaleo be fired over his role in the 2014 death of Eric Garner,an unarmed black man whose dying cries of “I can’t breathe” fueled a national debate over policing, race and the use of force.

In the non-binding verdict, NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Trials Rosemarie Maldonado said Pantaleo is guilty of using a chokehold but not guilty of aggravated assault nor obstructing breathing.

Her verdict is merely a disciplinary recommendation to NYPD Police Commissioner James O’Neill, with whom the ultimate decision rests.

The NYPD was once a proud law enforcement organization. But the NYPD is in distress, because liberal politics and pressure from “whatever group shouts the loudest” has been systematically destroying the cohesiveness of the agency. Was that by design?
