Twin brothers were arrested after police discovered 32 pounds of bomb-making ingredients in their closet.  Christian Toro, 27, and his twin brother Tyler appeared in court on February 15 and were charged with unlawfully manufacturing a destructive device. Christian was also charged with distribution of explosive materials to a minor. They have both plead not guilty.

“Under the full moon the small ones will know terror.”  (Card found in Christian’s backpack)

Christian Toro is a former math teacher at Democracy Prep, a Harlem Charter School. The investigation began on December 4, when a 15 year old female student called in a bomb threat and was arrested. Toro “mysteriously” failed to show up for work. Then on January 10, Christian formally resigned from the school. Three days later Tyler returned a laptop that had been given to Christian by the school.

They failed to purge it. When school officials began checking the computer, they found “suspicious” information in it and notified authorities. The school’s review of his laptop found that he had downloaded a step-by-step book about bomb-making.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Christian was arrested on January 31 on a separate but related charge of raping a 15 year old, the same girl who had called in the bomb threat.  According to court documents, he brought her to his apartment for sex on at least two occasions. But it appears that he was paying at least two students $50 an hour (one of which was the female) to take the explosive powder out of fireworks and store it at his apartment.

Blue Lives Matter reported,

Law enforcement agents interviewed students on Feb. 14 who told them that at least two students had visited the Toros’ apartment between October and January, and helped break down the fireworks.

Authorities found a box that had bomb-making materials, including 20 pounds of iron oxide, five pounds of aluminum powder, and five pounds of potassium nitrate, in a closet at the Toros’ apartment.

They also found two pounds of powdered sugar, which the complaint said can be used as fuel in an explosive, firecrackers, and a bag of metal balls that could have been used as shrapnel in a bomb, the complaint said.

On the kitchen table, investigators found a diary containing the phrases “We are twin Toros strike us now, we will return with nano thermite” and “If you’re registered as a sex offender, things will be difficult. But I am here 100%, living, buying weapons, whatever we need.”

Christian claims he “didn’t mean to download” the book on bomb-making, he was “just doing research on the 2013 Boston bombing.” It still wouldn’t explain his penchant for taking the explosive powder out of fireworks. Authorities found a journal on the kitchen table that referenced an operation “Flash,” but as yet have not ascertained the significance of it.

The NYPD says they do not see any nexus to foreign terrorists.
