Murkowski Signals Confidence in FBI Report – Is Kavanaugh Confirmation Getting Closer?

Senator Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, a key swing vote in the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation process, has indicated she has confidence in the FBI’s investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against the nominee.

Her comments could reveal a penchant to vote yes to Kavanaugh when the FBI report ultimately turns up nothing new on their seventh background check.

Murkowski responded to her thoughts on a vote that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell indicated could come this week, saying she’d take a “wait and see” approach to the investigation.

The investigation was initiated by Senator Jeff Flake who waffled faster than a breakfast at Denny’s after two paid activists accosted him in an elevator.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

With the probe being wrapped up in relatively short order and the FBI having a thorough history in conducting background checks on Kavanaugh and finding nothing, Murkowski expects them to produce a similar in-depth effort.

That’s all anybody can really ask for. Unlike Democrats who will continue to stall, to lower the bar on expectations, and continue to find new reasons to oppose Kavanaugh, Murkowski seems prepared to accept it and move forward.

Contrast that to two other GOP senators viewed as swing votes in the confirmation process, who have made the rounds earlier today apologizing for President Trump’s accurate criticisms and mockery of the accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.

Senator Susan Collins blasted the President as “just plain wrong” for mocking Ford, whose testimony is riddled with more holes than a screen door.

Then there was the ever-meek and mild Flake, flustered over the President’s willingness to call a dishonest accuser out for being a dishonest accuser.

“There’s no time and no place for remarks like that. To discuss something this sensitive at a political rally is just not right. It’s just not right,” Flake moaned. “It’s kind of appalling.”

What’s actually kind of appalling is the fact that spineless Republicans are not only unwilling to slam people who have falsely accused Kavanaugh and upended his life and career, but that they feel the need to apologize for somebody who does actually have a spine.

First off, the media is baiting you into those apologies. Second, do you think they’re going to cover you any different than a ‘monster’ like Trump or ‘evil’ like Kavanaugh just because you feed them some soundbites?

Grow a set, Mr. Flake. Grow a spine, Ms. Collins. Take Murkoski’s path, accept the FBI’s report, vote yes and move on to the next phase of helping the opposition party obstruct your President.

We wouldn’t expect anything less.
