A report in the Federalist stated that Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and fellow Democrats secretly met with Iran Foreign Minister Zarif at the recent Munich Security Conference. Democrats want to preserve the disastrous Iran Nuclear Agreement from which the US withdrew. John Kerry has also been lobbying Iran for the same reason. All of them are trying desperately to undercut the Trump administration.
The State Department officially stated that they were not aware of any side meetings with Iran by Democrats at the Munich Security conference. The source to the Federalist was briefed by a member of the French delegation, but not named. Was it true? It would be in keeping with the agenda of Democrats.
Democrats: hypocrites
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Sen Murphy was one of the first to whine about Mike Flynn’s phone call with Russian official Kislyak, and helped set in motion the investigation that ultimately caused Flynn to be arrested.
The Federalist reported,
“Any effort to undermine our nation’s foreign policy – even during a transition period – may be illegal and must be taken seriously,” Murphy said in 2017 after anonymous leaks of Flynn’s phone call with Russian ambassador Sergey Kisylak were published. He also strongly criticized the open letter some Republican senators sent Iranian leaders during the Obama administration’s campaign for a nuclear agreement.
However, Murphy has previously defended rogue meetings if they’re done by Democrats such as former Secretary of State John Kerry.
In other words, it’s all ok if Democrats do it, but not ok if Republicans do it. Hypocrites. Murphy spoke at the Munich Security Conference in February 2020, and “strongly criticized” US policy. So did Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif. With friends like that who needs enemies?
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had this to say:
“I have seen that piece about some senators meeting with Foreign Minister Zarif. This guy is designated by the United States of America. He’s the foreign minister for a country that shot down a commercial airliner and has yet to turn over the black boxes. This is the foreign minister of a country that killed an American on December 27. And it’s the foreign minister of a country who is the largest world sponsor of terror and the world’s largest sponsor of anti-Semitism. If they met, I don’t know what they said. I hope they were reinforcing America’s foreign policy and not their own.” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (Townhall)
You know they weren’t, Mr. Secretary. Democrats have been working hard to preserve the nuclear agreement rather than allow Trump to continue with the “maximum pressure” sanctions.
Murphy also speaks frequently at the National Iranian American Council, which is linked to the government of Iran. Some Republican Senators have asked the DOJ to investigate potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act. They should include John Kerry while they’re at it.
The airliner Iran shot down
After the Ukrainian airliner Secretary Pompeo referred to crashed in January, Iran at first claimed it must have been “engine failure.” When a person took a video of Iranian missiles hitting the plane, they arrested him. Iran refused to turn over the black boxes, and dozed the crash site under. The government that routinely shouts “Death to America” is not our friend, and should not be treated as such.
Even Canada thinks their PM is a fool for cozying up to Iran. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shook Zarif’s hand at the conference and got raked over the coals for it (Global News). The commercial airliner had 176 passengers from various countries, including 57 from Canada.

Democrats actively undercutting US Foreign policy
Democrat Senator Chris Murphy and his buddies were assuredly attempting to undercut US policy. John Kerry has been actively working to do that same thing since Trump took office. He was also seen with Zarif at the Munich Conference.
President Trump continues to succeed in spite of obstructions like these that occur on a daily basis. But it would be nice if these Democrats would be punished for doing it.
