Slightly more likely U.S. voters think former President Donald Trump deserves more credit for the COVID-19 vaccination program than he’s getting, a new Rasmussen survey has revealed, and it comes coincidentally with a report on the changing attitudes of Democrats and liberal pundits early in the process.

According to Fox News, “Media critics have unearthed ‘anti-vaccine’ rhetoric from prominent Democrats and liberal pundits amid calls for more Americans to get the COVID-19 vaccine and even make it mandatory.”

They have certainly changed their tune since the vaccination program began under Trump called “Operation Warp Speed.” Then-candidate Kamala Harris gets some egg on her face for having said at the time, “I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump … I will not take his word for it.”

Ditto, Joy Reid at MSNBC, who earlier balked at Trump’s efforts to speed up development of vaccines to beat the pandemic.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“Just speaking for myself,” Reid said last year, according to the Fox report, “I wouldn’t go near anything that Trump or his politicized FDA had anything to do with.”

Over the weekend, however, she was urging people to get vaccinated.

And now comes the Rasmussen report, in which “51% of Likely U.S. Voters think Trump deserves more credit for the COVID-19 vaccination program. Forty-one percent (41%) believe Biden deserves more credit.”

According to Rasmussen, “Thirty-nine percent (39%) say Biden’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic is better than Trump’s, but 45% think Biden’s handling of the pandemic is worse than Trump’s, and 13% rate the two about the same.”

The Rasmussen survey was conducted among 1,000 likely voters on July 13-14 with a margin of sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points and a 95 percent level of confidence.

The most alarming aspect of how the vaccination push is going is the demand by liberals for mandatory vaccinations.

Fox News quoted CNN political analyst Julian Zelizer, who said last month, “It is time to impose vaccine mandates and passports.”

Social media critics have reacted to such suggestions as reminiscent of Germany in the 1930s when people had to have their “papers” when questioned by the authorities.
